10 Funny Halloween Costume Ideas

With Halloween right around the corner, many of you are probably starting to worry about your costume. Sometimes the anxiety and stress of coming up with an original and interesting costume can prove to be too much; unfortunately, that’s when bland costumes such as witches and black cats are conceived. This year, we’ve solved the problem for you! Here are 10 unique and amusing ideas for your Halloween getup.

1. A Piece of Gum Stuck to a Shoe


Dress up in all pink clothing and tape a (clean) shoe to your head. This costume is disgusting yet hugely entertaining: you are a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe. 


2. Glee


Find some friends and dress up as the cast from our favourite musical-comedy-drama, Glee! Football helmets, cheerleader pom-poms and goth makeup are just a few tips for a successful makeover into a student from William McKinley High School. Now start practicing your singing!


3. Antoine Dodson


This hilarious character from the world of YouTube is a great choice for a Halloween costume. Grab a white tank top, a red bandana and a curly wig: you’re good to go!


4. Black-Eyed Peas 


We all know it’s hard to pull off the kind of swagger and glamour associated with Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.apl and Taboo. So for those with a sense of humour, paint yourself a black eye and draw a “P” on a white T-shirt: you are now a black-eyed P.


5. Leaf Blower


Another witty costume, the leaf blower is a great choice for people who simply cannot be bothered. To make the transformation, all you have to do is attach a leaf to the top of your head with a stick so that it’s dangling in front of your face. Then, when asked what your costume is, blow at the leaf.


6. Angry Birds


Believe it or not, your favourite app on your iPod is available as a life-sized costume! The decisions are endless: there’s the red bird, the yellow bird, the blue bird and even a pig. 


7. Crazy Cat Lady


Dress up in your rattiest bathrobe, put rollers in your hair and wear a pair of slippers all day. Then, pick up a few stuffed cats and carry them around with you. Your costume will be almost too convincing!


8. Minions


These little yellow fellows from the movie Despicable Me were some of the cutest things to ever grace theatres. Dress in yellow and wear overalls, along with goggles or big glasses. 


9. Blessing in Disguise


Wear all black and don a pair of sunglasses. Then, make a sign that says “Bless You” and wear it around your neck. You are a blessing in disguise! 


10. Mario/Luigi 


This is a great costume for two. Mario dresses in a red shirt and Luigi dresses in a green shirt. You both wear overalls, and hats that match your shirts. Finally, draw or stick on a fake moustache for the finishing touch.
