Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you have to sit at home sobbing into an ice-cream sundae on Valentine’s Day.
1. Go shopping with your single girl (or guy) friends.
You’re probably not the only one wearing the blues this Valentine’s Day, so hit the mall with some friends and buy the shoes, accessories, clothes and jewelry you’ve been longing for! Nothing lifts the spirits like a day spent shopping for things you love with people you love.
2. Watch Valentine’s Day at home with junk food.
Anne Hathaway… Ashton Kutcher… Jessica Alba… Jamie Foxx… need I say more? Valentine’s Day is a classic movie to watch on Valentine’s Day. Curl up on the couch with popcorn, chips and pop, and watch how these characters spend this holiday day as singles, fiancés, mothers and couples.
3. Bake the blues away.
Bake heart-shaped, pink-frosted cookies and cupcakes or make chocolates with your friends or family. The fun of baking never grows old! Bake and decorate goodies with icing, chocolate chips, gummy bears, sprinkles and whatever else satisfies your sweet tooth.
4. Indulge yourself.
Go to the spa, get your hair done, or get a massage, manicure or pedicure. It’s been a long year, so treat yourself! Relax, relieve, refresh – you deserve to be pampered!
5. Spoil yourself with things you love.
Many things probably keep you busy in your hectic life, but on Valentine’s Day when others are spending time with their special someones, you can take your time out for your hobbies. What’s your favourite music? Your favourite restaurant for takeout? Your favourite sport?
6. Read away your worries.
Indulge yourself in a good book. Immerse in a radically different dimension, leave your current life behind and step into someone else’s – pure escapism.
7. Read fashion magazines and stock up on your spring wardrobe.
The end of February marks the end of a season, meaning it’s time to renew your wardrobe inventory! Flip through CosmoGirl, Seventeen, Teen Vogue and other magazines to collect ideas for next season’s outfits.
8. Party hearty!
Throw a V-Day party at your house. Not only will the party be great fun, but the organizing and planning will also take your mind off your single life. If you would rather a quiet evening, host a get-together with just a couple of buds.
9. Play time.
Host a games night with friends – this is another fun way for singles to have fun amid the intensity of competition and an exciting atmosphere.
10. Tune in!
This year Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday, so why not catch up on an episode of Glee or New Girl?
