Not everyone can handle horror and thrills on Halloween. For those who still want something spooky without the terror, we present five movies for the faint of heart!

Halloween is just around the corner, and for many of us that means catching up on some of our favourite Halloween films. However, for those who just don’t appreciate the feeling of being terrified out of their minds, we compiled a list of flicks perfect for those faint of heart. There’s nothing to fear with these spooky yet endearing movies, so sit back and enjoy!

1) Ghostbusters (1984)


After getting booted from their positions in a prestigious New York University, a handful of quirky scientists decide to form a business. Their mission? Exterminating ghosts. Despite a lack of confidence in their abilities, the team makes it their mission to clear New York City of evil spirits.


2) Corpse Bride (2005)


This unique tale depicts a man who is soon to be wed to a beautiful woman. However, his destiny takes a turn for the aberrant when he flees to a forest in a state of panic, only to slip a ring on a corpse’s finger mistaken for a branch. Corpse Bride is an out-of-the-ordinary story of love, fear and surprise, brought to you by the incomparable director Tim Burton.


3) Beetlejuice (1988)


Another Tim Burton classic, Beetlejuice tells the story of husband-and-wife ghosts haunting the home they owned when still alive. Conflict arises when a family from New York moves into the house. After many failed attempts to scare off the new occupants, the ghosts call in an underworld “bio-exorcist” named Betelgeuse to help clear their home of the humans.


4) Casper (1995)


When Dr. James Harvey and his daughter Kat are called in to rid an archaic mansion of its ghostly presences, Kat befriends a lovable young ghost named Casper, who has been longing for a true friend for years. This charming tale is a definite heartwarmer!


5) Edward Scissorhands (1990)


Johnny Depp stars as Edward Scissorhands, a product of an inventor who unfortunately dies before completing his creation. As a result, Edward is left with scissors instead of hands. From afar, Edward may seem rather monstrous; however, his kind heart and gentle nature are soon revealed in this touching love story.
