It's up to two teenagers to save a dying city.

Rating: PG
Stars: Bill Murray, Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway

What's the story?
Lina (Ronan) and Doon (Treadaway) are two teens who live in the underground city of Ember, a city built in ancient times in order to save humanity from extinction. But a problem has arisen: a failing generator that supports the life in Ember forces citizens to wonder what will become of them once their food and power supply runs out. The citizens need to remember the reason behind the city's existence to ensure their survival. It is up to Lina and Doon to rescue the people of Ember from a corrupt mayor (Murray) and the threat of the endless darkness that houses the beasts of the underground.

Why see it?
This film has great special effects and performances. It also follows Jeanne DuPrau's novel very closely, and manages to outstandingly capture the imagery of the book.

Problems?
This film is definitely geared toward a younger audience, so it may not appeal to older teens. Although there are some exciting moments, the middle of the film is a bit slow.

All in All:
City of Ember is not much more than a visual treat.
