From glitzy to scandalous to over-the-top designs, the stars were dressed to impress at this year’s Golden Gobes! The best part? We as viewers have the opportunity to critique the fashion hits and misses of the night! Here are a few of the fashion trends spotted on this year’s red carpet.
Trends: Well, this is new...
The evening was a sea of shades of nude, beige, white and pale pink. From lips to dresses, it was seen on everyone from Julie Bowen to Emily Watson, and Angelina Jolie to Charlize Theron.

High hopes and high hair
Ponytails dominated the red carpet, as did a pulled-back hairstyle with a "bump" or vertical volume on the top of the head. This latter look can have both ups (worn in a ponytail, seen below on Nicole Richie) and downs (worn down, seen on Freida Pinto).

Ahead of the game
Chic headbands were seen on the likes of Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams, whose famous pixie cut was accessorized with a jewelled and vintage-looking black band.

Best dressed: Lea Michele
This people’s choice winner thanked not only the Glee cast but also said, "Thank you to my amazing team for helping me to get ready tonight! Love you guys!” She looked fresh and stuck with the pale dress shade trend.

Angelina Jolie
If Angelina’s fitted white Versace dress was a cake...the red collar would be the cherry on top! The pop of red stood out from the sea of uniform whites, nudes and pinks.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Her blue and white tie-dye Monique Lhuillier ball gown was eye-catching, different from the rest and still gorgeous.

Claire Danes and Rooney Mara
Both wore stunning, black, open-back, jaw-dropping gowns by J.Mendel and Nina Ricci, respectively. You have to see it to believe it!

Un-honorable mention
Her unnatural grey bob made her look older...but definitely not wiser! Kelly Osbourne was (ironically enough) the Fashion Police presenter, but her bizarre grey ‘do and monochromatic maxi dress could have been the perfect example for the "Crimes of Fashion" program she was reporting for.
