4 Great Grad Looks For Guys

As we approach the single most momentous event of our teen lives, it’s not just girls who need to plan out what they’re wearing. Guys, when looking for your grad suit, it’s crucial that you focus on one key thing – fit. The fit of a suit is vital as it should complement your body and create a classic silhouette. Keeping fit in mind above all else, here are some traditional and non-traditional ideas for guys’ grad attire for 2011.

Feeling the Blues

Navy blue has risen to popularity among celebrities like Kellan Lutz, who donned the colour during this year’s GQ Men of the Year event. It’s an unconventional colour choice, yet it doesn’t cross the line as it’s still a neutral.

A Black-Tie Affair

If you’re having trouble deciding on whether or not to go with the classic black tuxedo, there’s no better inspiration than Hollywood. Tom Ford attended this year’s Oscars in his own label. His bow tie and flower brooch were the perfect touch to spice up his red carpet look.

Slick and Smooth

If dressing to make a statement is your thing, then velvet is a great choice. It isn’t an everyday look and it requires a certain amount of swagger to pull off. When looking for a velvet ensemble, make sure it’s well fitted. It’s a heavy fabric it can make the body look very bulky.

Double the Look

The double-breasted blazer has been around for decades, but its resurgence was prominent during 2010’s fall/winter collection of designers like Dolce & Gabbana. The most important detail of the suit is the cut of the blazer; it should accentuate the masculine shape of the body.
