What’s the story?
Silent House revolves around Laura and her father Wilson as they settle down in an old farmhouse to make some repairs and updates before they sell it. After they spend the night there, things start to get strange. Laura hears an eerie sound that gets continuously louder and louder on the upper floor of the house. Wilson goes up to see what is going on while Laura remains downstairs, waiting for her father's return.
Why see it?
Do you enjoy horror movies? Ones that have you clinging to the edge of your seat as your body aches to know the truth only to be shocked by each twist and turn? Well, if that sounds appealing to you, then you should watch Silent House. There are brief moments during the film where the viewer pauses to wonder if a particular shot was where a cut occurred, but this technique is engrossing and terrifying. In addition, this movie debuts Elizabeth Olsen, the younger sister of the famous Olsen twins; her outstanding performance truly demonstrates what sets her apart from her sisters.
Problems?
Horror movie fanatics may find some of the scenes in Silent House pretty cheesy, so if that’s not your thing you may want to reconsider seeing this movie.
All in all:
Silent House will startle you, and the twist at the end will leave you appalled.
