South Delta Secondary Wins 2012 B.C. Slam Poetry Championships

Hullabaloo 2012 is over and this year’s BC Youth Poetry Slam champions are South Delta Secondary.

After six days of performance and close to 700 poetry fans attending the festival, South Delta Secondary rose to the challenge on Saturday April 14th @ The Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Main Stage by beating out Reynolds Secondary from Victoria (2nd), New West Secondary, (3rd) and Glenlyon Norfolk Secondary (Victoria) for the title of BC Youth Poetry Slam Champions.

The South Delta Team is made up of Zoe Wessler, Parker Woods, Sam Merritt and Floyd VB and they were coached by Trevor “Spillious the Ridiculous One” Spilchen.
 
Floyd VB also took home the title of the first-ever BC Youth Individual Slam Champion on Friday April 13th @ the RIO Theatre.
 
South Delta wins provincial bragging rights, free entry into next year’s festival and the honour of hosting the Billy Sharkspeare Championship trophy in the school’s trophy case until next year.
