Van Halen delivers a modern twist on a classic sound.
It’s been 14 years since Van Halen released an album, and even longer since they released one with their legendary original singer David Lee Roth fronting the band. A Different Kind of Truth is a strong comeback, providing 13 hard-rocking songs one after the other. All of the songs on the album boast tight riffs backed by a great rhythm section, as well as a wide range of guitar sounds. Tracks such as As Is deliver the virtuoso shredding that rock fans want, while others focus more on the vocal stylings of Roth. Ultimately, A Different Kind of Truth is not classic Van Halen, but it’s a solid modern version of it.
