Texters of the world, unite! An article in the New York Times on May 25th reported that “American teenagers sent and received an average of 2,272 text messages
80 messages a day?! Pffffttttt… These kids got nothing on me. I send approximately 500 texts a day. Who cares about “anxiety,
As the screen lights up, the little beep goes off, the sign: 1 New Message appears… my heart starts to beep faster, my breath quickens. This is what I live for, and hypocritical adults with their BlackBerries and iPhones cannot take that passion away. Think about how useful texts are: they’re fast, quiet, lend themselves to multi-tasking and are easy to slip in under the (not-so-watchful) eyes of parents and teachers. I send about 100 texts a day, and even this seems like a lot- I can't imagine sending 500! My friends and family get irritated when my thumbs and eyes are glued to my phone, and they are definitely vocal about their annoyance!
24/7 Texting
I agree, I think people prefer to talk to each other through text nowadays...whether that be through MSN, social networking sites, or text messaging, lately people are getting to know each other more by using means of technology and less by talking face to face. Sure it's convenient, but sites like Twitter and Facebook fill you in on every little detail that happens in a person's life...and that means leaving less topic for conversation when you do decide to talk in person.
Text Craziness
14,528 text in one month!! That's a little ridiculous, but I'm not much of a gadget/digital person myself. My cellphone is pretty ancient - Zack Morris, if you know what I mean.
