Bringing Hollywood Glamour to Grad

With the Golden Globes marking the start of the awards season, it also reminds many young women about their own major event soon approaching: grad! Lets take a look at some of the hottest celebrities' outfits, and see what clues we can take to bring Hollywood glamour into our soon-to-be amazing grad night.

Sparkly and glittery dresses can be done for grad; however, in moderation and good taste. Olivia's dress is classic, because of the shape and how the jewels cascade down the bodice into the rest of the dress. If you are planning on doing a sparkly dress, stick to ones that contain gems that match the colour of the dress and ones in similar shapes. Neon green stones and a pink dress may sound pretty, but remember, grad dresses should reflect your own personality and look timeless.
On a beauty note: Keep your hair shiny and polished when doing a shimmery dress. Messy beach hair may work for some dresses, but definitely not this one! Try a loose up-do, and keep your makeup elegant to match your princess look.

Dianna Agron
White or cream coloured dresses with a simple silhouette is beautiful for graduation events. However, be sure to match the colour to your skin tone to avoid looking washed out if you have very pale skin. The best way to wear this kind of a dress is to: have great accessories (jewelry such as a bracelet or earrings are a must, just don't go overboard), and of course, good shoes! With a dress of this colour, you can choose to wear shoes with a little embellishment, or a different colour. If your dress is not floor-length, interesting shoes will really reflect your personality.
On a beauty note: Since this colour will emphasize your skin colour, keep your skin glowing and warm with a luminous foundation and a light dusting of highlight or bronzer. Your makeup can be simple, or even adding some colour will bring attention to your gorgeous face!

Mila Kunis
Colour is a great way to stand out at graduation. Whether the colour be yellow, green, or a daring red, you'll be sure to have everyone's eyes on you that night! Mila's unforgettable emerald one-shoulder dress is both sexy and sweet. Sticking to one solid colour is very flattering for all body types, and it reflects an image of sophistication. The idea for a dress with colour is "texture." Whether your dress is silky and smooth, ruffled, or pleated, the texture of the fabric will make all the difference. Try on different dresses until you find a fabric that looks the best on you!
On a beauty note: Matching your eyeshadow to your dress colour could be a little tacky if you use too much or the exact same colour. Try experimenting with different looks until you find one that matches your dress well and brings attention to your eyes. With colourful dresses, people sometimes tend to forget our face, but with a little eyeliner and mascara, the look will go a long way! Keep hair loose and healthy.

Helena Bonham Carter
It's your night, why not go eccentric and show off your wild side? Helena, always infamous for being on both the best and worst dressed list, wears a beautiful, funky dress and mismatched heels. If you are planning on wearing a unique dress, remember to go all out and stick with other unique pieces. For example, wearing a colourful and asymmetrical dress with black heels and a tiara may not work. Stick to similar colours and shapes to keep your outfit a cohesive look.
On a beauty note: Honestly, you could go all out with your makeup and hair, just remember, this is a formal graduation event, and you should always look respectful and professional. The party starts after the formal stuff!

Just remember, its your night, and your time to show off how you feel after completing 12 years of school! Whether your dress be $10 or $1000, always be sure to ask your other friends what they are wearing (to avoid mishaps) and choose something that reflects you and how you want to look. Also, be sure to get your parents' opinion. Low-cut, see-through, low hemlines or open backs may or not be appropriate for your specific event. Wear something you will be proud in, and something that your parents and teachers will be proud of you in. Also, don't stress too much about looking perfect! Relax, and feel amazing that you've made it to such a huge milestone in your life!

Love This Style

I'm graduating this year, and I can see this trend being noted into people's decisions. I love it! The tan/cream colours, and the rich reds and greens, so pretty! Also, for hair, the big curls, side parts with the bangs pinned back and the messy swept back hair like on Mila Kunis works well with a lot of dresses :)
