Elizabeth Taylor's Fashion Legacy

Fashion fingerprints the Hollywood icon left behind.

Two Oscars, eight marriages, millions of dollars worth of jewelry and a undeniable film legacy all adds up to one ultimate Hollywood fashion icon.

If there’s something that Elizabeth Taylor has left to us fashionistas, it's the iconic, fearless and bold looks she created throughout her career.

Taylor was born with a mutation that gave her a double row of eyelashes, thus proving she was perhaps a bit bold from the start. Her extraordinary style even won her a Lifetime of Glamour Award from the CFDA in 1997, and in her later years, you’d notice the silk and fur caftans she draped over herself rather than the wheelchair she attended philanthropic events in.

This past March Taylor sadly passed away from congestive heart failure. Here are some of the fashion fingerprints she left behind:

My Love Affair with Jewelry
This being the title of the book Taylor wrote detailing her, well, love affair with jewelry. Perhaps the most notable piece was her infamous 69-carat diamond she received from husband Richard Burton, dubbed the “Taylor-Burton Diamond”.

Caftans
There is no doubt she made Caftans look glamorous.

Perfect Illusion
No paparazzi could catch Taylor looking anything but flawless. She never left the house without her signature makeup and the most dazzling of jewelry.

Bold and Beautiful
Even today, Taylor’s earlier impression can be easily picked out. For example, Kim Kardashian’s draped and plunging evening gown looks remind us of Elizabeth Taylor’s own equally va va voom waist accentuating dresses of the ‘50s.

Cleopatra
The beauty industry can thank Taylor for really launching the Kohl rimmed eye makeup look. In 1963 Taylor played Cleopatra alongside future husband Richard Burton, among many others, still say no one pulls it off the bold eye make up look better than her.

White Diamonds
Her scent, White Diamonds, has appeared to become as permanent as the gem. "White Diamonds is still one of our readers' favorite fragrances. The fact that hers has stood the test of time, even though every hot celebrity has a fragrance, says a lot about her as a beauty icon," - Allure Magazine.
