When your name is Lady Gaga, looking outrageous is an understatement. Lady Gaga always keeps us on our toes with her fashion choices since, as she puts it: “a girl’s got to use what she’s given... so I take it to extremes. I don’t say I dress sexily on stage – what I do is so extreme. It’s meant to make guys think, ‘I don’t know if this is sexy or just weird.’”
Here are the top 10 outrageous outfits worn by Gaga... and you can decide for yourself if it's sexy or weird!
1. Muppet Material (German Talk Show Interview, July 2009)
Lady Gaga did a German talk show interview while wearing hundreds of Kermit the Frog dolls by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Fear not, German public, not all Americans dress like this. Not to mention, Jim Henson, puppeteer creator of Kermit the Frog, must have turned over in his grave after this one.

2. Personal Bubble (Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, Spring 2009)
This outfit is a Lady Gaga staple, as she’s worn different versions during various performances, as well as for the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. We don’t dare intrude on her bubble, since she’s only wearing fishnet stockings and a nude leotard underneath.

3. The Bird (MTV Video Music Awards, 2009)
So how did Lady Gaga give Beyoncé a standing ovation for her Video of the Year win with Single Ladies? She was spotted with a feather Philip Treacy wreath wrap and white sequined Jean Paul Gaultier dress. We doubt she would’ve looked much different if she had opted for a real bird’s nest instead of the Philip Treacy wreath.

4. The Lobster (2010, Dinner at Mr. Chow in London)
Another typical Philip Treacy look, but not with your typical hat. Unless you would call platinum lobster head-wear and a chicken claw bracelet, “typical.”

5. The Devil Wears Lace (Also at MTV Video Music Awards, 2009)
Yes, I would hide my face with red lace too if I were caught in this. Lady Gaga accepted the Best New Artist Award in this bright red, lacy Alexander McQueen dress. We wonder what she would wear while accepting the Weirdest Outfit Award.

6. Red Meets Royalty (Royal Variety Performance, December 2009)
At the Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool, England, Lady Gaga performed her song Speechless in a red latex gown with a 20-foot train. Afterwards she went to shake hands with Queen Elizabeth II, who was probably left speechless. Well, what else would you wear when meeting the Queen? Obviously, a bright red latex Elizabethan-inspired gown.

7. Lady Bra-Ga (Much Music Awards Performance, 2009)
Didn’t take a rocket scientist to come up with this one... or maybe it did. It seems like she updated Madonna’s cone bra, with the addition of the fireworks feature.

8. Hair, There, Everywhere (Much Music Video Awards, September 2009)
What’s more outrageous than a dress made of hair? Better question, what’s next, a Frog dress? Garbage bags? Oh wait...

9. Down the Chimney (ACE Awards, 2009)
Lady Gaga showed up at the ACE Awards with her undergarments worn over her garments and her hair looking like a huge cotton swab behind the black lace mask. But all we really want to know is why she wore THIS to the ACE Awards? Oh right. Because she’s Lady Gaga.

10. Gone Fishing (Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, Summer 2010)
The most recent outfit to make this list, this summer, all eyes turned when Gaga came to the festival in a skimpy fishnet outfit and crowd surfed. Barely appropriate, and just barely an outfit.

Creativity Is The New Normal
Lady Gaga is a creative individual and although her ideas (and outfits) may seem unorthodox and unnatural, we shouldn't be paying attention to what the physical components are. Instead, all that matters is what she is trying to imply or what statement she's making. On top of all this, don't forget that she's a celebrity. You can't wear a black dress to the Grammys and expect to be noticed. She wants to be Lady Gaga, not an average Jane Doe.
I Admire Her Boldness
Gaga thinks outside of the box and I love it! She has a loud personality and isn't afraid to take risks. Some people may find her a tad bit strange but this woman has guts. She's ready to spark minds, inspire millions and make a statement. Even Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj are trying to be as crazy as she is, but they're just going overboard. (A random block on your head? Seriously?) You never go full on crazy. They're trying too hard to be weird. At least Lady Gaga does it with some class and her outfits sort of come together and match. I mean come on, the meat purse matched with the meat dress? It's all about detail people!
Freaky outerwear or fashion guru?
As much as I love pop idol Lady Gaga, it is very true that her outfits can sometimes leave little to the imagination. Her bold fashion choices can be called a statement of empowerment - or just a weird ensemble of unique design. Either way, though her fashion is questionable, her music is rocking and will most likely be around for many more costumes to come about.
True Dat
While I can respect her bold confidence and true ability to turn heads, I do wonder how long it will last. I first saw Lady Gaga's video for "You and I" a while ago and I admit, the graphic mermaid, Snow White bride and and golden Frankenstein get up was not too shocking. The wow factor was waning. What did blow my mind was the cornfield scenes where she was sporting a pretty white dress, neutral toned makeup and long blonde hair. It lead me to believe that, at this point, I think that the weirdest thing Lady Gaga can do is dress normally.
She makes a statement
She makes a statement everytime she goes out, but doesn't she ever just want to kick it in sweats and a T-shirt? Also the yellow tape outfit she wore on an airplane and her meat dress should be on here too - those were very weird.
uhm.
Lady Gaga has her own thing going on - she is very confident and that is understandable, but some of these outfits.. REALLY?! What was she thinking? I don't understand how someone can pull these off so casually without feeling a pinch of weirdness. Props to her for her self-esteem and ability to rock anything, but some of it is just getting ridiculous.
I like how she isn't afraid
I like how she isn't afraid to be different, but I know her outrageous outfits contribute to her popularity. She has marketed herself as "daring to be different" and the way she differentiates herself is through the theatrical outfits. I don't blame her for using this as a publicity stunt though - all celebrities have to do it - Lady Gaga is just really good at it.
Loving the Muppets!
I love the confidence and originality Lady Gaga portrays. Though her and I may not share the same style, I appreciate the important message she sends about not being afraid to be the crazy, wonderful, unique you that you are!
Outrageous
Leave if up to Gaga to come up with the outrageous outfits. Sometimes I wonder if her outfits overshadow her talent.
I love her, but..
She may be going to overboard with her outfits. I mean, the whole hatching out of an egg thing at the Grammys was little too weird for me to appreciate. I get her ideas, and the messages she is trying to get across, but they are getting overshadowed by these costumes in my opinion. I love what she stands for, but people are going talk more about her meat dress than the demographic she is trying to represent and the issues she is trying to tackle.
