Temporary Tattoos: The New Fashion Accessory?

"If i weren't a model, I'd be a walking collage. I see my body as a blank canvas that's aching to be decorated." -Karl Lagerfeld Supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw

Temporary tattoos have been spotted being worn like jewelry lately, from Megan fox, to Jean Paul Gaultier's fall 2010 runway to Rodarte fall winter 2010 runway. And trust me, the list goes on!

At the Oscars, we caught sight of the Chanel Pearl Transfer Tattoo on Sarah Jessica Parker's wrist.

And although I'm not complete a fan of permanent tattoos, temp ones seem okay to me... maybe even appealing. Recently it seems like body art is a trend in itself, despite controversial opinions. The fact is, some people love it and some people detest it.

Great Idea

These are a great idea: many people get tattoos and regret it later in life. This gives people the opportunity to try out a tattoo, and see how it would look before permanently inking their bodies.

Ever since I saw the Chanel

Ever since I saw the Chanel temporary tattoos on the fashion models last year, I have been all for designer temporary tattoos. It's a fun and different way to accessorize your style and show some character without permanently marking your body.

another option

Body art can be a great way to express oneself but it can also be a lot of fun. Although lots of people disapprove of permanent tattoos temporary ones are a good alternative. Also another great way to express oneself via body art is by using henna. Henna is a non-permanent natural dye and it is extremely fun to use, I personally love henna. I have never gotten it professionally done but I have enjoyed creating intricate designs with it. If you are considering a temporary tattoo I would advise you to consider henna as well.

Express Yourself

Tattoos are a great way to express yourself, but something gaudy and large is to be avoided.

Most people use tattoos to express love for another person, others use tattoos for reminiscence. And then there are the people who use the tattoos like it's a fashion statement. Tattoos are anything but.

Tattoos are permanent and when faced with that realization most people are too late. Not only is a procedure to remove a tattoo costly, but also very painful.

The one thing to remember for anyone wanting to get a tattoo, is to like it now, and know you will like it in the future. People can't afford to use their body as a canvas if they're not going to like it later in life.

A Middle Ground

This trend caters right to the youth of today. Wanting to express themselves, without wanting to anger their parents. Tattoos are with you for life, and although it's a tired out saying, it's true.

So, for a chance of self- expression that will only last a week, not a lifetime, this trend should be stick around and be permament!

Secret Desire

Tattoos are always viewed as a secret desire by many. If we were to get one, what would we want? It is also seen as something one would only do when crazy in love or intoxicated. How about if they were classy and temporary? I think this new trend is perfect for the girl who is daring, yet doesn't want something so permenant. Or for the person whose parents would cry if they saw their baby "inked". These tattoos give us an opportunity where we can wear them out, feel like someone different and fresh for the night and take them off when we want to be our regular selves again. It's fun with no regrets!

How long do they last for?

How long do they last for? I'm pretty sure these "designer" temporary tattoos would be almost the same price as a normal tattoo, no? :P

Amusement parks also have spray tattoos that last around 2 weeks too haha.
