Like Montreal, Dublin and Lyon, London has recently launched a public-use bike program. For a small fee, you can ride a bike from one spot and then drop it off at your destination. Seeing as Calgary can be a more than terrifying place for cyclists, it's awesome to hear that systems like this are picking up speed elsewhere. Check out this blog from The Economist to read more!
I think this is a spectacular
I think this is a spectacular idea. I know that here in Vancouver city developers are gradually introducing more bike lanes into the downtown corps, and it is phenomenally beneficial to the environment, personal health, as well as as traffic flow.
Having ridden my bike in Calgary as well, I think you guys have a leg up on us. Your 80+ kilometers of paved trails are amazing. I rode all the way from southcenter to silver springs! It is a truly unique system that should be implemented throughout Canada and elsewhere.
Come on vacouver step it up!
If Montreal can use this system in the snow and ice why can't we take it in a little rain?
Vancouver next please!
I would LOVE if this system made its way to Canada's west coast. No more excuses, exercise and saving the environment all in one great idea!
