The Real Housewives of Vancouver: Back for Round Two

Who’s returning and who’s not for Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Vancouver.

The Real Housewives of Vancouver is back for Season 2! Get ready for more Botox, mindless drama and petty backstabbing that we teens are all guilty of watching. Yes, in comparison to the other Housewives series aired on Slice, the Vancouver Housewives' problems look like child's play, but perhaps the script writers of this reality TV show will be a bit more creative with the scenarios this season.

Returning Housewives, Jodie Clamen, Mary Zilba and Ronnie Negus will be joined by three new socialites, Ioulia Reynolds, Robin Reichman and Amanda Hansen. Oh, and Mia Clamen's new nose, of course! Ioulia is an entrepreneur with a Russian temper (perfect for stirring up more drama), Robin, a southern belle, is a mother of two with money to spend thanks to her divorce (note the Prada saddle on her horse) and mother-of-three, ex-party gal Amanda is fresh out of rehab. Speaking of party girls, Vancouver’s iconic party girl, Christina Kiesel will be missed this season, as will peacekeeper and self-proclaimed tomboy, Reiko Mackenzie, leaving Mary to fend off Jody on her own.

This juicy reality drama shows many beautiful images of our city, but maybe not so many beautiful images of the people in it. Many believe that The Real Housewives gives Vancouverites a bad reputation and undermines the idea that we’re all polite here.

What do you think?

Getting ready for season 2...

I personally watched almost all of the first season, though I'm yet to watch the second. I've got to admit - during the first season, I would eagerly wait each week for the show, anticipating the drama and how the women who be representing, or perhaps misrepresenting our Vancouver.

In the long run, however, I really don't think that this show gives off a bad reputation of Vancouver. I think it's pretty evident to most that Vancouver is a beautiful and dynamic city with much more to it than just a few affluent, snobby women. Yes, some people here might particularly like spending cash and a few are less than thrifty. There are all kinds of people here though, not just those who only care if their blouse cost $460 at least, at a minimum for their taste - no offense to the women on the show.

Also, I just thought I would mention that I think it's funny that there is a new group of women joining the show, while others have retired after the first season. I've got to hand it down to these new women in particular; they're brave for wanting to come on or accepting the offer to be on the show, even after the world has seen all the mishaps and shenanigans that happen on a show all about living the life, enjoying what money can buy you, and maybe spending some time with your girlfriends, whether they are really real friends to you or not. I wish continued luck to this show's participants.

Hopefully those that are watching the show are smart enough to know that not all of us Vancouverites are like that. Look at everyone else around here!

Oh god...

I watched the first few episodes back when it was only the first season and somehow liked the show. I would see the places that they go to and think to myself " OH, I'VE BEEN THERE TOO!" However, as the show progressed, drama exploded and the women made me disgusted. They fought about the stupidest things which gave off a bad reputation of Vancouver. The best memory I had was watching this show with my dad. I'd laugh so hard, and he'd look at me with this confused look, haha.
