I just watched the movie 17 Again. I know. I’m a sucker for boys with good hair.
While I was watching it, a line stuck out to me. It’s the scene in which Zac Efron’s character, Mike, is talking to his teenage daughter Maggie (spoiler alert!) I won’t tell you the details, but the dialogue goes something like this:
Maggie: “Dude, your jeans are really tight!”
Pause.
Mike: “I’m not gay!”
Those lines were not meant to offend anyone, I know, but I couldn’t help wondering if this joke rings true more than we know. How many times has someone you know said, “Hey, is (insert name here) gay? He looks like it.” There have been plenty of occasions where I’ve had to convince someone that (insert name here) is not gay.
I’m going to get straight to the point. A person’s sexual orientation, beliefs or whatever else, are not defined by what they wear. If someone wears tight pants, it does not mean they are gay. If wearing tight, skinny pants means that someone is gay, I must be gay, then!
Just because someone looks a certain way does not mean that you have the right to assume anything about them. Here’s an idea - get to know someone first, before you make any judgments, and don’t assume anything about them based on their clothes or appearance.
I completely agree. I wear
I completely agree. I wear skinny jeans almost all of the time and it's just part of my style. Clothes don't always reflect upon one's sexuality
