Jambo, Canada – we got to Tanzania safe and sound! Wowza! It’s hard to be productive at 11:00 at night after over 20 hours of hopping timezones, weird plane food and stealing cheese samples in Amsterdam. We are sitting in the middle of Tanzania’s safari and adventure capital Arusha!
We got here after a bumpy car ride with Pascal, our entertaining bus driver who couldn’t believe that some of us live with temperatures that dip down to -40! We’re already like a big family. It all started with a group hug back in Mississauga where we discovered that despite our differences, we share the common goal of combating poverty.

As World Vision Youth Ambassadors (YAs), we’ve been given the opportunity to travel to Tanzania to experience a different way of life by immersing ourselves in the sights, sounds and smells of Africa. On our return to Canada, we will mobilize youth to take a stand against poverty to ignite change across the country.
We are pumped, overwhelmed and a little intimidated – but above all, we are excited and ready for the experiences that have only just begun. Alright, it’s time for us to head to bed because we’ve got a jam-packed day tomorrow. We’re going to visit the World Vision Tanzania HQ, meet a sponsored child and have dinner with one of the locals.
Kwa Heri!
