As you walk into the room, clutching your pencils, you begin to shake. Your palms start to sweat. You can feel your heartbeat accelerating. What's going on? Are you going crazy? No, you'e just experiencing some of the stress brought on by writing an exam. Though exams can be frightening, here are five great tips to make them a little less scary.
1. Understand What To Do
Read the instructions carefully, making sure you completely understand what the question is asking.
2. Watch the Clock
As soon as you begin, look over the exam and see how long each section is. Ensure you leave enough time for each section, especially essays.
3. Check it Over
Leave a few minutes to go over your answers and check them for silly mistakes.
4. Ignore Other People
Work at your own pace. Just because somebody else is done when you're only halfway through, it doesn't mean that you should be done too.
5. Don't Freak Out!
If you get to a question that you're completely stuck on, don't panic. Take a minute or two to look at the question and think about any possible answers, and jot down any ideas. If you're still stuck, skip it. Go on to the next question and come back to the hard one.
