5 Study Tips for Academic Success

It's time to hit the books, and these study tips will help you succeed this school year.

It’s a new school year and your study habits are quite literally about to be put to the test. Here are five tips that will help lead you to academic success.

Study in groups

If there’s a math problem you and your graphing calculator can’t figure out, try working with some of your classmates. As the saying goes, teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success.

Practice tests make perfect

Like most people, you probably don’t have an undying passion for tests – but practice tests can show you just how much you really do know. Learn from your mistakes, find out what you don’t know and start studying!

Organize with an agenda

Get an agenda and use it! Stop procrastinating so you can actually manage your workload and set goals for yourself. If you don’t know what you have to accomplish, you won’t be able to get there.

Find a sound study environment

Some people are die-hard library fanatics, but that doesn’t mean you have to be one too. Focus on finding an environment where you can concentrate and do what you need to do.

Get enough sleep

Some people will opt to drink coffee to stay up till the wee hours, but doing this isn’t healthy. You may be worried that sleep will take up time you could be studying, but not getting enough sleep makes it harder for you to concentrate and remember things. Try getting a full eight hours the night before an exam; you’ll notice the difference when you get your test mark back.
