Making the Most of Your Senior Year

Everyone knows just how exciting it is to be finishing up your senior year! It is already November and most seniors are probably already looking into post-secondary options. High school is quickly coming to an end, class of 2010! Put on your thinking caps and let’s make the best of what’s left of high school!

Forget About All The Drama
High-school drama can get ugly! The best thing to do is forgive and forget. Life is way too short to hold grudges. Be optimistic and outgoing with your classmates; you’re sure to miss them the day after you grab your diploma and walk across that stage with your cap and gown.

Plan An Elaborate Fundraiser
Nothing is better than the feeling of giving. Plan a fundraiser for an important cause in your community. This will give you and your friends some unforgettable memories and will have the whole school talking about your big accomplishment.

Focus on Academics
In order to graduate in BC, you must meet all the provincial grad requirements. This means you must write five provincial exams. Provincial exams are not the most entertaining thing you can do, but unfortunately they’re mandatory. And these aren’t the only requirements! The others include 150 minutes of physical education a week and a total of 30 hours of work or volunteer experience. The best thing to do is stay on top of these requirements so that you’re not in a panic come June.

Get Involved In the School Community
Since this is your last year of high school, join as many clubs as you can. This may make your schedule a bit hectic, but it’s worth it because you will make some awesome memories. Join anything from sports teams to the grad committee at your school. Joining the grad committee is the best because you will be able to help plan your senior prom. This will also help you leave a mark at your school. These clubs may have already started, but it doesn’t hurt to ask if it’s not too late to join.

Graduation

This is my last year in school and I can not believe how fast it is going! I wish it never had to end but sadly it does. It is really scary to think about. I still have no idea what I want to do for post-secondary and I am having second thoughts about careers. It is all happening way too fast for me! But this article was great to make it less stressful. Gave me some neat ideas to try out.
