Relieve School-Related Stress

During the school year, students often feel overwhelmed with stress. For most students, the stress usually arises during times of excessive studying and when trying to excel in athletics or other school related organizations. Follow the tips below and I hope you’ll be able to take away, or at least help manage, some of that stress.

Discover the Way You Learn
If studying is a main cause of your stress then finding out your learning style should help make things easier. Once you’ve got the knack for which study method you like best, the time spent studying will be more productive and hopefully a little bit easier.

Get Organized
If never knowing what assignments are due when and what day a test has been scheduled is your cause of stress then using an agenda is the key to solving your problems. A daily agenda will help you keep track of your school assignments as well as your social and extra-curricular commitments, so that you can keep your priorities in check.

Don’t Stretch Yourself Too Thin
Getting involved in school is great, but don’t stretch yourself too thin. Rather than joining every committee, just join a few of your favourites. Being part of fewer clubs or committees will allow you to wholly commit to the groups you have chosen, and give you more free time to enjoy other aspects of your life.

Take a Break
Students are often working too hard and never find the time to take a break, but breaks allow you to put some stress to the side and give your mind and body the chance to rejuvenate. Listen to some music, go for a walk or hang out with a friend, just take some time to relax. All work and no rest is unhealthy.

Brain Foods
Foods that contain antioxidants, vitamin B, iron and vitamin E are great brain foods. Such foods can boost brain health as well as longevity, enrich the nervous system and help benefit our reasoning skills. This helps get rid of stress because if the brain is functioning at its best, things are naturally easier to grasp.

Exercise
Exercising keeps your body healthy and it relieves stress because it forces you to concentrate on the task at hand. Exercise can help you relieve any pent up anxiety or frustration because all of your energy is put into working out. Your body needs exercise to help keep it running smoothly, but your brain also relies on exercise to keep it active.

Quit Procrastinating
Procrastination causes students to become overwhelmed by stress. It’s a tough habit to break, but once you take the time to schedule due dates in advance and are diligent about taking on and finishing any homework as soon as it has been assigned you will feel much more in control and less stressed.

Talk About It
If the stress gets overbearing then talk it out. Sometimes voicing your concerns out loud can clarify things for you – you might be able to pinpoint the exact cause of your stress. Talk to your parents, friends as well as your school guidance councillors. If you let others in on your situation, you’ll be amazed at how helpful they can be.

Get Some Sleep
Sleep is an absolute necessity. Sleep gives your mind and body the rest it needs to help keep your brain sharp. By making sure that you are getting enough sleep, you are ensuring that you will wake up the next day feeling rejuvenated and ready to deal with school again.

Stay Optimistic
School provides a lot of challenges for students, but by maintaining a positive attitude and outlook these challenges become easier to deal with. If you believe in yourself and know that you can overcome the stressful situation you’re in, the stress reduces. These are just a few tips that may help, but you never know which ones will work for you until you try them out!

Another way to relieve

Another way to relieve stress is to do homework early. Instead of leaving all your work on a Sunday night, finish it on Friday and get over it and enjoy a well deserved weekend.

Actually taking the time to

Actually taking the time to sleep should be highlighted, bolded, and underlined. Getting a decent amount of sleep as much as possible can not be stressed enough. Being tired just makes everything worse.
