5 Green Career Options

Are you passionate about environmental issues? These days, having a green career doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be out in the forest planting trees. Many job sectors have now incorporated green strategies into their daily work. No matter what your interests, there’s likely an eco-career for you!

Environmental Lawyer

Environmental lawyers take on cases that deal with issues like air and water pollution, non-sustainable waste disposal methods and parks and wilderness preservation.

Eco-Fashion Designer

Today’s fashion designers are increasingly incorporating natural or recycled fibres into their clothing lines, leaving the Earth free of toxic dyes and non-reusable fabrics. (See Youthink's article on local eco-fashion designer Nicole Bridger.)

Environmental Consultant

Environmental consultants can be hired to do a number of things, including assessing damage done to polluted areas and advising companies on how to adhere to environmental regulations. Most careers in this field would require an educational background in science.

Sustainable Architect

Sustainable architects must be innovative in order to create affordable, well-designed buildings that use sustainable materials that will not harm the environment during construction or long-term.

Wildlife Biologist

Wildlife biologists study the impact that environmental changes have on animals (their nutrition, habitat and reproduction rates), and how certain masses of land need legal protection so that they can prevent harmful changes to the inhabitants’ ecosystems.
