What will you do this summer? Will you sleep late and hit the beach? Or will you take full advantage of the precious days of summer? As we all well know, our summers here can be painfully short, so how do we ensure that the little time we have off is well spent? The answer lies in planning – when time is limited, you need to be prepared. So here are a few options on what to do with your summer when you’re not “busy” lounging poolside:
1. Polish up on that hobby you have been meaning to work on. For example, I have just purchased a new camera. I can’t wait to go exploring in the mountains to see what kind of images I can capture. I have no idea how to operate my new camera, but I plan to use my summertime to become a self-taught expert of photography (while getting a tan!!).
2. Set a physical goal for yourself. We spend most of our winter cooped up in stuffy classrooms, so spending time outside in the summer is essential. What I do is sign up for a race that happens sometime in the fall (it doesn’t have to be big, just something to look forward to). Signing up for the race gives me motivation to do the required training (the pressure is on!). This way, your sunny summer days can start off with a bit of physical activity, leaving you looking good and feeling good.
3. Relax and read! There are so many great books out there, but who has time to read these days? Well, here is your opportunity to unwind and read those books that you have perhaps started, but never finished. Grab yourself a Slurpee and read the day away.
