Eulogy of the Leaves

Mimicking fires throughout the mountainside.
Sparks of iridescent yellows and oranges.
Tall tale signs of Fall’s strong hold.

Leaves dying,
dying, but giving.
Giving us beauty,
wonder,
colour.

October gathered and raked into heaping piles.
Jump up high, reaping nature’s playground.
Land cushioned safely in Fall’s strong hold.

Leaves dying,
dying, but providing.
Providing us with joy,
memories,
love.

Fragilely blown though the wind’s moody gusts.
Twisting and twirling about; the tree’s little dancers.
The show swiftly ending, as the breeze pauses.

For Fall’s strong hold.

Death given a chance to breathe life.
