The fire bloomed high, the sky burst with excitement
The crowds broken with hope, they stood nation to nation
united by the passion that
Flowed through their veins, the love of the game
Heads held high, everything to gain,
Grimaces of the past blood, sweat, pain
Were long forgotten as they stood their ground, their medals of gold were heavy, but their victory made them light as feather.
As the pound of triumph beat in their hearts, the look on their faces
glorious and free
For notorious they were for standing their guard,
on watch for the country they love,
And in the proudest moment, we watched them stand
And as if hand and hand, were brought together,
Canada rose.
