A Day's End

I see the rays of sunlight
that I have longed to see since the clouds obscured my sight.
The path ends here, it falls off a cliff.
Yet the cliff does not cause you to fall,
but carries you
to a faraway land
distant and dreaming.

As I call for you once again
you do not hear me,
but resume your walk down your own extended path.
And I fade gradually away
from memory, from the world you still exist in.
And if you happen to cross our very special memory,
my name still refuses
to cross your lips,
so that you prevent
those tears from falling from your sparkling eyes.

But what you don't realize
is that those loved ones
who remain dear to you
will never disappear.
But continue to watch over you
with a radiant smile
until the end of your own very long day.

No matter how long it will take,
I will watch and wait patiently
for you.
We shall be reunited.
