Poem for a Hospital

Here is your piercing siren wish, your rushing stretcher wish. Here is your pounding heart wish. Here is your sliding door whipping open wish, your waiting room filled with family wish. Here is your smell of antiseptic wish, your cries heard from around the corner wish. Here is your elevator music wish. Here is your newborn baby crying wish. Here is your doctor’s nervous tone wish. Here is your syringe filling with red wish, your little girl crying into her mother’s chest wish. Here is your wiggling green Jell-O wish, your chocolate pudding wish. Here is your pacing of a nervous wife wish. Here is your doctors running in white gowns wish. Here is your heart fighting for its final beats wish. Here is your flat tone of death wish. Here is your final breath, your final kiss, your final end wish.
