Porcelain Doll

Pretty Ophelia was told then to doubt
The sun and the stars above
She was told to doubt that they blaze and they move
If she kept on believing in love

And childlike, she continued obliging
Faithful, she still believed
She believed until both heart and mind broke
Singing amongst the reeds

It was love that drove her to ruin
Trusting - it drove her to cry
Purity pushed her to water's edge
To wilt and let go with a sigh

Is there a price that's put on faithfulness?
Is there a price that's put on love?
Is there a price to all things tested and true
Is there a price to heaven above?

I want to continue believing
Unmarked by cynical pride
I want to accept life as simple and pure
To express all I have inside

Ophelia, still, can never doubt
The sun and stars above
She rides them as they move and blaze
She remains - frozen in love

And while her heart was broken
While her mind was frayed
Her legacy is one of selfless dreams
Irrevocable, persistent, and praised

I'll never resign to failure
I'll breathe in my heights and my falls
For my greatest fear in life would be
That I'd sit on the shelf like a doll
