Reasons to Remember

All the ones who fought
In thought of what was right
Gave us a reason
To remember

All the lives lost
To the violence of war
Beg us to
Remember

All the spirits up above
In the stars and clouds
Even they need us
To remember

To every family torn
Apart by the hatred
Want us to
Remember

They were protecting us
As well as all the others
We have a duty
To remember

The strength that they had
In themselves, their country
Give us reason to
Remember

Whether Japanese, American,

Whether Japanese, American, British or German, a soldier is a soldier. The immoral exist on all sides. The soldiers who died were human beings, and nothing more. "Good" and "evil" shouldn't be slapped onto them, tarnishing their memory. They fought and died as human beings, for their friends, their family, and their governments. Soldiers fight for ideals as well, and only the victors decide which ideals were right and wrong...

So when remembering our pasts and our ancestors who fought for us, we should purge our hearts of any lingering bitterness. Even to the "terrorists" who fight in the Middle East today, we should show some respect for their cause. No, I don't mean wreaking havoc and terrorizing the West. They're fighting for the independence of their governments and opposing western imperialism and oppression.

This poem preaches the importance of remembering the devastation caused by warfare, and not letting the sacrifices of our past go in vain.

Yeah.
