I met you across the pages
of scrawled and scribbled notes
written as a result of a petty and inconsequential whim.
You pulled sentences and paragraphs over my eyes
and blinded me with the epithet laden adornments
hung upon the veils of verbs
caged my heart the iron clad filigree
of fettered feelings.
I’m ensnared,
(held captive in the effervescent glitter
of your ink-stained eyes)
(held close by the promise of misshapen words blown upon a wheezy breath).
All at once
I saw your profile
crystalline
carved from ice and clinging to the
confines of my windscreen,
illuminated in the glare of hazy midnight streetlights
that blink in the face of smoky wafts of polluted air.
(You’re the flickering inflection of
barely repressed hesitation with
the amalgamation of words falling from
my lips, unto others ears).
Elucidate.
I’ll reveal you within the lines upon my canvas
your face
a fragmentation
of angles with no distinction
and your body the softened curves
of graphite blown
by unsullied whispers.
We met across the pages.
I’ll stop writing,
I’ll turn the page over and
you’ll
disappear.
