This Town

The window lays broken,
a victim of pain.
Now the neighbours have awoken;
guilt is all to gain.

As shattered glass glimmers
an asking man stares down.
The child's hoarse voice stammers
"I just can't take this town."

Cans sit on the sidewalks
after bitter night fall.
The child stalks
the writing on the wall.

While Its head and men are screaming
the child is caught.
By a flashlight beaming
and a bitter man's gunshot.
