Yes or No?

Never too late
To change who you are
That reputation you wake up with every morning
You could’ve grown up beautiful and smart
Instead you are on the streets not even smart enough to get help
You can blame “It”, but in the end it was all you
That one word that came out of your mouth
Was it yes, OK, sure or maybe even two; of course
Did you think of the future?
Or were you too caught up in the moment to glance over
And in those split seconds this is why you’re here
Cold yearning for warmth
There’s a blanket close by, an opportunity to go back but you ran the other way
Your only thought about seeing your new best friend the next time
You couldn’t give it up
You have it once and they say you never go back
It changes your life, it changes you
You might as well change your name
You’re chained and you can’t find the key
Locked up and strained
Could’ve said no
But you missed the flight
Stuck in the middle of nowhere
Just realizing now that you are
Way too late.
