5 Final Touches
for Fall 2011

Five easy-to-add accessories for a fashionable fall outfit.

This season, designers are refining classic accessories and making them better than ever. Here’s a look at some stylish accents that should be in your closest this fall.

Jungle accents

Put away boring solid-coloured items and give your wardrobe a fierce new look with animal prints. Look for items like high heel booties, scarves, mitts or hats to really bring out your inner animal.

The classic bag

A good bag never goes out of style, and this season designers such as Alexander Wang and Chanel are sticking with simple, chic bags in neutral colours. Whether it’s a small clutch or a big tote, pick something that’s classic that you can make your own.

Printed scarves

Printed scarves are a great way to add flair to an outfit. For versatility, look for one that’s long enough to wrap around your waist and you can even use it as a belt! If you really want to be on trend, choose a scarf in simple black and white to make a style statement.

Cabin chic

Fingerless gloves, fur-lined vests and bags as well as funky toques make the great outdoors the place to be this season. Layer on the cozy accessories and head outside, or stay in and cozy up by the fire. Either way, with this accessory trend you’re sure to stay comfortable and warm, yet totally stylish this fall and winter.

Retro touches

What’s old is new again and pieces like the aforementioned classic handbag, newsboy cap and fur hat are back. In keeping with this retro trend, Banana Republic launched a Mad Men-inspired collection this fall that includes statement accessories like printed scarves and leopard-print pumps. The Mad Men collection offers a modern take on ‘60s style, so check it out, mix with your own pieces and create your own vintage look.
