Flaunted. Dominated. Barely survived. While you may argue on how these styles survived the decade, one thing is for sure – they survived – and they do deserve some props for that (whether they’ve boosted or tainted the fashion world is a whole ’nother story). Although each decade creates new styles, this decade also saw the re-emergence of many past styles.

Skinny Jeans
Rock them with flats or heels; dress them up or dress them down. Skinny jeans were doubted, but they were worn, and the trend has lasted longer than almost anyone expected.

Designer Shades
We are an eyeglass-obsessed generation and our sunnies must reflect our personal style. Designer labels often adorn the arms of wider-than-before sides, making them more of a fashion accessory than ever before.

Uggs
Sheepskin boots have been around for ages, but Uggs emerged as a fashion trend about 10 years ago when Hollywood took them mainstream. With jeans tucked in or out, worn with skirts or shorts, Uggs are almost too versatile for our liking.

Platform Heels
Platform heels – from the ones on Bratz dolls to Steve Madden peep-toes – have reappeared throughout a decade of ups and downs.

Blazin’ the Blazers
Blazers, whether boxy or extra short, always seem to be reappearing, especially as of late. The boyfriend blazer is a huge hit for girls this season.

The “It” Bag
Enough said. The past decade has been a turning point in bags with the main emphasis on quality and brands – Marc Jacobs being one of the favourites.
Leggings
A huge trend in the ’80s, leggings made a strong comeback in the last few years as we began pairing them with skirts, dresses, ballet flats – and even short shorts.

Boho Chic
Made popular by celebrities like Sienna Miller, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, floaty shirts, footless leggings, hobo bags and baggy cardigans flew off the shelves and carved out a lasting place in this decade’s fashion.

Animal Prints
Leopard and tiger and zebra – oh my! Animal prints are certainly not on the endangered species list! Nature-inspired patterns have been seen everywhere throughout the past 10 years, from red carpets to school to, well, even the jungle, of course!

Converse Sneakers
These sneaks have been around for 100 years, but have experienced a serious renaissance over the past decade. Popular with rock stars, teenagers and adults alike, these stylish kicks are a staple in any casual wardrobe.
