The idea of eco-friendly fashion has influenced many of today’s modern designers. Here are four eco-friendly designers who I believe are making a huge impact in the fashion industry. Nobody can say they’ve sacrificed style to be green!
4. Lara Miller
Straight out of Chicago, designer Lara Miller researches all her fibers to make sure they’re 100 per cent eco-friendly. Her designs have a sort of trendy hippy vibe, and her work has been published in Vanity Fair, W, The New York Times, Newsweek and Italian Vogue, among many other fashion mags.
3. Peter Ingwersen
Danish fashion designer Peter Ingwersen founded his NOIR brand and the cotton fabric brand ILLUMINATI II in 2004 with the goal of combining top fashion with organic cotton. Featured at London’s Fashion Week, Ingwersen’s ethical brand gives a percentage of its profits to the African cotton trade.
2. Bahar Shahpar
Bahar Shahpar, who previously owned an art gallery in New York, now has one of the most popular eco-friendly brands to date. She has been profiled in NYLON, WWD and ELLE. Shahpar keeps her clothing feminine and flirty, while focusing on environmental responsibility at the same time.
1. Linda Loudermilk
And finally, the top eco-friendly designer: Linda Loudermilk. Loudermilk combines high-end fashion with a green philosophy, and uses fabrics made of recycled plastic, bamboo and sea cells. Inspired by the world around her, Loudermilk’s designs feature wonders of nature like birds, air and the ocean.
