Dermalogica's FITE For Female Entrepreneurs Around the World

Last year, Dermalogica introduced a skin care line made for teens, by teens called Clean Start that got youth all over Canada excited to achieve fresh, clean skin while keeping the environment in mind. This year, Dermalogica launches Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship (FITE), an amazing initiative that is giving teens the opportunity to really make a global difference.

Since its launch, Dermalogica has helped fund the financial success of more than 25,000 women in the professional skin care industry. Even today, 70% of people who live in extreme poverty are women and most have difficulty accessing the right banking resources and educational tools needed to start a business. To highlight the belief that women's economical independence is crucial to sustaining a healthy global economy, FITE’s goal is to help fund the businesses of an additional 25,000 more women in around the globe, whether it be in the food, textile, retail or service industry. This will be the first step in sustaining change, first in families, then in villages to entire communities in Africa and the Middle East among many other locations.

So the question is, how do youth fit into this equation? Here's how it works: Dermalogica has taken their five best-selling items and put them in specially marked FITE packaging (as shown in the image above). Once purchased, you can redeem a code inside the package worth $1 and donate it to any industry, in any world-region of your choice at http://www.joinfite.org. It literally takes less than five minutes to do, and the most exciting part is that once you've donated, they email you a detailed profile of the woman you donated to and how exactly you've contributed to their community! You can also see how much each country has raised for this program right on the website. Canada is currently in 2nd place, but Australia is catching up!

This initiative is less than five months old and has already helped fund over 1,000 women worldwide. FITE has gained the attention of the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who stated that investing in women is a "smart thing to do" and the support of celebrities like Michelle Bridges and Geena Davis. With so much accomplished in so little time and today's generation of youth so willing to make change happen, there is no doubt in my mind that FITE will go above and beyond the goal of 25,000 women and eventually help whole communities actively thrive on their own. Isn't it amazing what $1 and a few clicks can do?
