Fall in Love with Fall Outerwear

2008 is forecasted to be "the year of the coat," and it's all about longer hemlines, tailored shapes and jewel-tone colours. Here's a quick look at what's hot for fall '08 outerwear.

Rich and Vintage Hues
Once fall arrives, the colour palette usually withdraws to dark, neutral tones. But this year it's time to carry that pop of colour with you into the colder seasons. You'll see rich jewel tones like magenta, teal and jade in stores this year.

Diverse Fabrics
According to Elle, the fabrics found on this fal's runway range from fur to men's fabrics such as tweed and tartan.

Tailored Shapes and Varied Lengths
This year's coats are structured and have a less-is-more attitude. It's all about good tailoring and figure-flattering shapes. The hemlines have been lengthened and vary from anything that's hip length to below the knee. Long jackets not your style? Don't panic, for teens it's still in style to wear those waist length pea coats and puffer jackets we all love.
