Nestled in the heart of Yaletown, Fashion Point is a shopaholic’s fantasy-come-true. The fairly new designer outlet is home to prestigious European labels like Prada, Dolce & Gabanna and Christian Dior among others. At this store however, high fashion does not come with high price tags – shoppers can expect to pay 40-70% less than that of boutique prices since they import directly from Europe.
Fashion Point was the brainchild of Marina Marchesi, the company’s Chief Executive Officer: “I felt there was a lack of designer fashion in the Vancouver market,” she explains. “I wanted to open a store that offered exceptionally great product at a reasonable price.”
One of Marchesi’s favourite designer lines that her boutique carries is Roberto Cavalli. “Cavalli knows how to do feminine and sexy,” she says about the famous Italian designer. “He is a master at using patterns and the most beautiful of fabrics like his silks and leathers.”
Having worked in the fashion industry for several years in Italy, Marchesi understands the importance of merchandising and she makes it a priority in her store. “People have a hard time visualizing outfits. It is a big factor when trying to sell your product, so by effectively placing garments together by colour, outfit or style you make it easier for the customer to make decisions.”
The exterior of the store is just as important to Marina “I like my store windows to be very original and visually stimulating. It is important for them to be imaginative looking, and constantly changing. They are a huge factor in getting people in the store.”
Fashion Point is becoming one of Vancouver’s most notable hidden gems – and it’s sure to please the most discerning of shoppers. Customers can enjoy shopping a large variety of styles and designers without emptying their bank accounts.
