Film’s Influence on Fall Fashion

Fall is known as the start of the fashion season, and when the new era of trends emerge onto magazines, catwalks, and into our awaiting hands. However, instead of taking inspiration from the typical places, why not from movies? Fall fashion for 2010 is all about variety, taking from the past, and mixing old with new. Try these movie-inspired fashion pieces to amp up your wardrobe and pay tribute to some of your favourite flicks!

50’s Style Denim and Leather: Inspired by “Grease”
The combination of denim and leather is a 50s style that’s tough and edgy. So, wear denim on denim, leather on leather, or both together to look as hot as Sandy after her makeover. Try denim or leather jeggings for a modern touch on this look.

Military Chic: Inspired by “Inglourious Basterds”
Military style is a must for fall. Command attention in a classic anorak or streamlined cargo skirts. Green and camel colours reflect the fall setting and look great with other pieces. You’ll never be saying auf wiedersehen to this look because it stays in style all year long!

Animal Print: Inspired by “Earth”
Animal activists have no fear; these items are inspired by the beauty of nature (and are 100% faux). Try Earth-inspired pieces for fall and look chic in wild prints matched with solid colours. Or, try mixing two opposing prints, like leopard and snake. You’ll be fierce!

Aviator: Inspired by “Top Gun”
Like Maverick in Top Gun, wear a bomber jacket with fake fur for a cool-girl’s way to stay warm. Then, catch a few of the last remaining rays of sun with your aviators. Combine these pieces with military inspired items and truly earn a fashion badge.

reliving the "old" days

Seeing all the "new" fashions being presented in school and at the mall. You would think our sense of creativity has died. I myself own nothing from what's shown above, but our generation's style in my opinion has gone from regular boring downside, to up new chic flic. These so called "fashion statements" are popping out from all over the place, no one looks awkward when they are dressed like the came from the 60s. We don't get that "awkward" stare. It's become humane to us. Maybe that "bee-hive" up-do may came back, better start stocking up on that hair spray!

It is so true, history always repeats itself. Just like how the fashion cycle is exactly that, a cycle. It's a great idea to take fashion tips from movies because there are so many of them. With different genres and time periods, it'll help keep fashion fresh. It also lets one personalize their style because we all have different movies which we like to take style tips from.
