It was only for a month
This is a true story. Embarassing, but very true. At the age of sixteen I abrubtly decided that I would change my name from Angela Christensen, to Moon. When I say abrubtly, I mean one moment I still had my given birth name, and then 'he' smiled, and I became Moon. Actually, even better, it was Moonlight. I am being slightly sarcastic. Anyway, 'he', who I will not name for the sake of my reputation, was my crush of the month. I believe this took place during the month of June. His beautiful face frequently showed presence in my mind, causing me to loose many precious hours of sleep. This resulted in my choosing to rename myself Moonlight; The lack of sleep had caused me to become slightly derranged. I remember I even told someone I thought I was becoming nocturnal. The name change ended up lasting until July 1st, when I found a new crush.
A Romantic Descent
by Emin Akkurt - W.L. Seaton Secondary School, Vernon BC
As I was walking along one day I realized something. I needed to do something amazing for my crush. I decided that something had to be done, when I got home I started thinking. I had put together the best plan known to man. I planned to put a bouquet of flowers at the top of my schools rock climbing wall, hidden so no one would see it. I could then climb to the top and rappel down and give her the flowers. The day before I bought a dozen roses and climbed to the top and placed them in the perfect spot. The next day in gym as she was watching me I started my climb to the top. After reaching the top and grabbing the flowers I saw her eyes light up, not in the way you’re thinking though. Her eyes lit up because my rope came undone and I had started to fall from the top face first right into her. I landed right on top of her we hit heads and I later found out she had lost a tooth. The flowers were squished in between her and me and I had a huge bump the size of a tennis ball sticking out of my forehead. There is good news though. By landing on her it broke my fall and I didn’t break my arm.
Banner
When we think about Love, we think about the way that it make us feel; the things that it inspire us to do, the feelings, the ideas, something that we have might not thought about before. Making us do things that we wouldn’t have done otherwise.
In that beautiful and sweet sunset, at that time the idea got to me. I thought about it, over and over again, thinking if it would actually work. “I’ve got nothing to lose” I said to myself, so I thought about giving it a chance, work my way and see the results.
He lived right across my building, and I managed myself to watch him everyday, while he watched back with a sweet smile on his face. I waited till he was gone, so I went to the roof of my building, placing a huge banner saying: “Scott Anderson, I Love You”. I waited and waited to see his face when he read the banner. He came back from his soccer practice, opened his window, looked at me, read the banner and called me to my house. Excited I picked up the phone, it was him, and with a sweet voice he said: “You’re really sweet”. Hoping he would say something else I got kind of disappointed, that’s when he said: “Do you want to go out Friday?”
This was the most outrageous thing I’ve done for a crush. It worked out the way I planned it, till he cheated and everything was done.
Climbing the tree of love.
Thinking back to my years as a middle school student, I can recall the most bizarre thing I have ever done for a crush.
I was walking home from school one day, when I heard a distressed meow. I looked over to my right, where in front of my crush’s house there was a cat, stuck in a tree. I pondered to myself: “If I climbed the tree, retrieved the cat, and brought it to my admired ones front step, she would certainly have to fall for me!” Intrigued by this idea, I approached the tree, and looked up towards the animal. While I followed the long, winding, path to the altitude that the cat was currently situated at with my eyes, I felt a cold chill creep up my spine. This was defiantly the tallest tree I will have ever climbed. I swallowed my fear, and reached up towards the first branch to begin my departure. “Gross!”, I exclaimed, as I lifted my other hand towards the next gelatinous, sap covered branch. After ascending about three quarters of the way to the cat, my shirt got caught on a twig. Unable to break it loose, I had to tear my shirt in order to venture on in the quest for love. When I arrived at my crush’s feisty feline, it wasn’t too happy to see me. It gazed at me with its glowing yellow eyes and released a deep, throaty growl. I wasn’t excited for this. I tried my best to make a quick capture of the pest, but it managed to swing quite a few strategically placed scratches at my face and chest.
After I got a hold of the cat, my descent to the ground was rather flawless. I approached my crush’s front door with sap on my hands, a ragged shirt, and multiple scratch wounds. I knocked on the door and awaited my crush’s arrival. She came to the door, and I exclaimed: “Look! I climbed your tree and retrieved your trapped cat, just for you!” She looked me in the eyes and smiled, admitting: “That’s very sweet of you, but this isn’t my cat.”
The Sting Of Love
I was in grade one and I thought I was in love! My babysitters name was Valerie, she was in grade 8. She had blond hair, blue eyes and was a little taller than I was.
One Friday morning my mom woke me up and explained to me that my dad was out of town on business and she had a meeting, so Valerie would be taking care of me. I went to school that day, and couldn’t wait for the day to end. Afterschool, she found me on the playground, she was beautiful, eyes glistening in the sunlight she said, “Are you ready to go cutie?”
“Oh my gosh she thinks I’m cute,” I thought to myself. We walked to my house three miles away. It was a nice walk, and along the way I saw some flowers in a field. I dashed towards them and ripped them from the cool, moist soil. Roots still attached, I stuffed them in my bag.
As we finished the walk home, I began to feel a slight tingle on my hands. When we got home I washed them, but it wouldn’t go away. None the less I presented the flowers to her, hands covered in welts but my chest still welled up with pride. “Awe thanks” she said, planting a kiss on my forehead. I blushed with happiness wondering, “How can love feel so good, yet sting so bad?”
Our Friendship Is More
Our Friendship Is More Important
When I was 14 I really liked one of my best friends but he had a girlfriend. I didn’t really care for his girlfriend but I was happy if he was happy. I thought about how long I have liked this guy for, but we had been friends since we were 5 ½ so I didn’t feel comfortable tell him how I felt. If I told him that I had a huge crush on him he might not like me back like that, and it might make our friendship weaken. So on his birthday I decided to take action and tell him how I felt. I made him a home made birthday card with a poem that I had wrote for him, and when I gave it to him, I told him to read it alone. So he did, and that poem I wrote had all my feelings inside of it. After a few days I didn’t know what to think, he hadn’t called me to hangout in 3 days and I was worried that he thought the card was stupid, but to my surprise I looked on his Facebook account and it said he was single. Then the phone rings, he had dumped his girlfriend and he wanted to talk to me in person. We met outside my house, and he said “I love you Hailey!” Ever since then we have been happy together, but that was a long time ago.
Woof
If I had to pick one of my most outrageous things I have done for a crush it would have to be the time I was deeply and madly in love with my math teacher, Mr.Fanfani. Mr.Fanfani was a mix between Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum and a Greek god, with every cute smirk my way I could tell our relationship was moving at a very good pace. One ordinary day in math class while I was constructing my usual drawings of Mr.Fanfani and our wedding he mentioned his love for animals. Hearing how much he adored his pet dog Bruce I got a fantastic idea. Right when the school bell rang that day I ran to the nearest costume shop, bought the cutest puppy costume and drove to his house. When I knocked on the door I realized he was not home, swiftly I snuck into the garage and waited. After 2 hours the garage door finally began to open to my surprise it was not just Mr.Fanfani, it was the whole Fanfani family! Mom, Dad, son and daughter! Mr.Fanfani stared at me in disbelief as I stared back in shock as his 2 kids gave me a huge hug. “I love you Clifford!”
Waxy Situation
The following story is my most outrageous and embarrassing story. In a school in a little town in the Okanogan there was a girl. Her name was Petra, she was one of the more popular girls in the school. She had the most amazing blue eyes… They always reminded me of the ocean, and her hair! Her hair was incredible a magnificent red. I adored all of her aspects even the ones others didn’t like, like her laugh. Most people thought it was weird but when she laughed it always made me smile. She had my heart and didn’t know it. One of my close friends knew how I liked her so much and told me that she liked me but she couldn’t get past my hairiness. I didn’t mind my hairiness but if it stood between me and her I’d get rid of it all! So my friend and I went out and bought wax and waxing strips, so when we got home with them we started waxing my body (full body wax). I can’t believe how much those hurt! Rip! I squealed. Three agonizing hours later I was hairless, and I was ready to ask the girl of my dreams out. When I got to her I said “Petra, I’ve liked you a long time, and I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?” She replied “I’m dating Bailey”. My friend tricked me and Bailey was my older sister.
A Musical Ending...
This one time I had this crush on a girl, she barely knew me which made what I did extremely awkward. Anyway I started to think of ways to impress her, I thought and I thought until I finally thought of the best idea to impress this girl, so I grabbed some paper and a pen and started to write a song for her. The song mentioned her name a couple of times and some things I thought she might have liked so I decided after three longs days of thinking and writing I decided the song was good enough. One day after school I saw her walking towards her locker I caught up to her and asked if I could talk to her about something after school in the field, her reply was surprisingly enough a yes. When three o`clock came around I ran out to the field took out my guitar and song and waited for her to come. About fifteen minutes later she showed up looking extremely confused so I told her to sit down and then I started to sing and play the song for her. It didn’t end the way I thought it would, she looked at me kind of weirded out and I told her I wrote that for her and she just said “I don’t even know you, and now I really don’t want to” and walked away. The next day I came to school to find out she told all her friends who told there’s so everyone knew about it and not only that but she told her mom and her mom thought I was a stalker and got a restraining Order against me so I had to switch schools and to this very day I cant go anywhere near her, And if I do I get A fine…
No recess? Oh well!
Jordan was the very essence of my being. Every time our eyes met during reading time a blush would spread across my cheeks like an inferno. He was the cutest boy in my second grade class. All the girls always tried to share their snack with him, but it was only my snack he preferred. I was a sucker for his smile. With the lift of his perfect lips and a flash of his gorgeous white teeth my Dunkaroos would be all his.
One Tuesday afternoon during free time, he asked me if I wanted to play with the class hamster, Hammy, with him. I of course agreed. No one was paying attention to us, so he decided to venture with Hammy where we had never ventured before. He wasn’t allowed outside, but that didn’t stop us. Hammy’s little beady eyes lit up with excitement when he saw the blue sky, and gravely playground. Jordan put him down, and he ran like I’ve never seen anything run before. He slithered under a fence right out of our hands, leaving us dreading the wrath of Mrs. Thompson. She would be furious. When we went back into the classroom to explain what had happened, Jordan flashed me a pleading smile that I just couldn’t resist. I told her I was the only one playing with Hammy, and lost him. She gave me no recess for two weeks, but it was so worth it.
