SUMMERSUMMERSUMMER!

Summer is THE most absolute best time of the year! Schools out, sun's out, time to relax, holla! This season opens up so many more outdoor activites and allows camping trips to happen. Often weather affects a person's mood so we won't be seeing many sad faces around during the summer. This is the two months where students can go out, worry-free and spend time doing activites and hobbies they enjoy. Just two more months, woot woot!

Winter season! All the

It's WINTER!
By Alex Pipchuk Nov 4, 2011

It’s WINTER!!!!
My favourite time of the year is winter. I love it because I love to skate, building forts and having snowball fights with my younger sister, and let’s not forget, it’s the time for Christmas! First of all, I can go skating outside instead of going to a community center and wasting my change on what seems useless. I don’t have to waste my time checking my pockets for some change or even the house. I can just walk across the street and skate. Secondly, I have an excuse of why I hit my sister in the back of the head with a ball of cold, soft ice. And lastly, there’s a lot of family time during Christmas and it’s the only time to be a fatty and eat all the Christmas cookies and yummy Christmas food! And don’t forget the presents!

My Favourite Season
by Sebastian Kaiser Nov 4, 2011

I love summer. It is a time where you get to relax and enjoy having no school. The weather is very hot so, you can have a nice, ice cold refreshment to cool you down. There are many outdoor sports you can play like soccer, baseball, tennis and more! You can hang out with your friends or just stay at home, sleep-in and watch some T.V. But, my favorite part of summer is going on vacation. I love visiting new places and exploring the hotels I stay in. Also I enjoy visiting my cousins in different parts of the world who I’ve waited all year to see. In my opinion, summer is by far the best season of the year.

What’s your favorite time of the year?
by Maria Rojas Nov 4, 2011

There are four seasons in the year and my absolute favorite is summer. Summer is something I look forward to every year. I am always excited for summer! It’s the best because of the amazing weather. The more the temperature gets higher the happier I am. Even winter loves like summer. There is so much to do; you can play so many more sports, go swimming (outdoor pools), fishing, camping, and so much more. Also the nature is breath taking, the bright green grass, beautiful different color flowers, fluffy white clouds, and the big baby blue skies. Most people, like me when it’s cold out they want they want to get away and be somewhere warm. This season is filled with joy and happiness for us kids, because we get two whole months with no work! Summer is a vacation just waiting to happen

Summer is Awesome
by Sarah Williamson Nov 4, 2011

My favourite time of year is summer. I like walking outside and knowing that I'm not about to freeze. Summer also means no school and not worrying about homework or studying. You can also hang out with friends without schoolwork or other activities getting in the way. You can also travel for longer than in any other season. Summer is also hot, so you can go to outdoor swimming pools or run through sprinklers with your friends in your backyard. In summer you can stay up later and get up later. The days are also longer and there is more sunlight during the day. You can go camping without bundling up in lots of sleeping bags and needing to be by a fire constantly. During the summer there are usually garage sales and lemonade stands where you can get a nice, cold drink. I think summer is the most amazing season ever!

Favourite time of the year
by david gutierrez Nov 4, 2011

My favorite of time of year is summer. I like summer for three reasons. The first one is because outdoor soccer. I like outdoor soccer so much because back in my home town Colombia that was all I played. Also because it is my favorite sporty ever. My second reason is because of Stampede. I love Stampede; it’s the most exciting thing to do in the summer, all the fatty food, all the games and scary rides! But the best things about Stampede are the shows. They played several good concerts and good entraining shows that you can get in for free! Thirdly I like summer because there no school! You can just sleep in, play video games, go outside and best of all hang out with friends. Also because you don’t have to use your brain at all! In conclusion I wish it was summer all year around!

Reasons and Seasons
by By Karina L Nov 4, 2011

My favourite time of year is Spring, for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, it is a picturesque time of year, with the emerging foliage a gorgeous shade of green. The sky is a vibrant shade of blue with puffy clouds that resembles tufts of cotton candy. Spring is the transition between summer and winter and it couldn't be more breathtaking. Secondly, it's not burning or frigid, it's somewhere in the middle. Personally, I love to be able to step outside in my favourite hoodie without melting or turning into a popsicle. The weather is perfect so you can step outside and drink your slurpee while seeing verdant lawns and puffy clouds. Then, comes the best part, Spring Break! You get ten whole days to yourself, to enjoy, without early mornings and other stressful things. No teacher that I know is mean enough to give homework then (did I just jinx it??), so you're pretty much free. For me, personally it means ten days and about thirty books but for others it could mean unfettered access to Facebook, friends, texting or video games. In conclusion, I love Spring, for many comprehendable reasons.

What’s your Favourite Time of the Year?
by Nov 4, 2011

My favorite time of the year is summer because of the vacation you get. During the vacation you can go to festivals, eat slurpies and go to the beach. There are many festivals you can go to like Latin festival where you can eat Latin food. That is very hard to find in Canada. Also they will play songs in Spanish that don’t usually play on the radio or on the TV. Slurpies are awesome during the summer. Sure you can eat them anytime of the year but it’s not the same as eating them during the summer. For me the beach is like the best place to go to during the summer. You can hit the waves or just play in the sand. Maybe just get a tan or whatever you want. So if you ever want to go to a festival, eat a slurpie or go to the beach summer is the best time to do it.

My Favourite Time of the Year
By: Ifeoluwa Omotayo Nov 4, 2011

Who doesn’t like outdoor sports? For those of you who enjoy watching FIFA, or MLB, summer’s just the thing for you. For exercise fanatics, it’s time to hit the gyms and the track-and-field course. Couch potatoes, whip out you t.v. remotes and practice your clicking, because it’s sports time! Unveil your hidden stash of chips and pop, settle into your comfortable, worn out couch, and enjoy the freedom
“What’s this?! Messi has the ball, tries a shot, he SCORES! It’s 1- nothing for Barcelona!”

It All About Spring
by Taylor Brown Nov 4, 2011

\The things I love about spring is the smells, the tastes, the feel of sun on my face. You wakeup and take in the fresh, damp air. The snow. The snow is finaly gone. Only wet earth. The sun peakes the moutans and the rays shine on my face. Schools coming to a close. Trees and flowers pop from seeds in the ground. my birthday is also in the spring. That might have something to do with my love for spring. but in the end sprimg is the best time of year to me and thats all that matters. Lets hope the winter go's fast.

Flirty Spring
by Karolina Pelc Nov 4, 2011

Spring, lovely-smelling, flower-growing, birds-chirping, trees-blooming, nail-painting and dress-wearing season. Who doesn't love spring? It's the most vivid and expacting season. Every spring, all the girls get beautified, and guys get athletic ;). Spring is the most flirty season, oh the love in the air. The best part is saying bye to the frosty winter, and the puffy winter jackets and the heavy winter boots. How i love spring.

Blooming Spring Time
by Maggie Murray Nov 4, 2011

Spring is my favoritre season forsure, it's a rainbow of life. Purple crocuses appear first, petite clusters of purple flowers with bright yellow centers. Then the sunny yellow daphadils with their mini trumpet centers. An array of colours come next with tulips.
Spring brings new life to the world with an assortment of baby animals. Pink little piglets, yellow chicks and darling dunks run about the farmyard. billions of baby bunnies hop around.
My favorite spingtime holiday is easter. Who doesn't like Jesus and chocolate? It's a time for spritual renewal and fresh starts. Could there be a better season.

It's Winter Time!
by Monica Aguirre Nov 4, 2011

There are four seasons in a whole year. But only one that’s surprisingly awesome and it’s called winter. Yes you heard right its winter. To some people winter is the worst, because the snow and the coldness. But to me that’s just a little downside of the season. Celebrations are mostly in winter like; Christmas and New Years. And who doesn’t like parties and turkey? Oh yes turkey with gravy and salad on the side mmm yum. I also love seen the decorations on the house, and who can forget the classic Christmas movies like: The Grinch who stole Christmas, A Christmas Carol and Nightmare before Christmas. I also love opening presents with hot chocolate and beside the fire with my family. You just get a warm feeling inside, just like waiting for New Years to come. Also the sports in winter are the best. Skiing is my favorite winter sport because it’s super fun and dangerous. I love feeling the wind touching my face when I go downhill, and the nice little ride on the chair lifts, it just relaxes me! I just absolutely love winter it’s the best season of the entire year!

The Dawn of a New Year
by Elizabeth Chima Nov 4, 2011

Some people love the coming of snow, signaling winter has arrived. Others like that last second when the bell rings, stating that school is over and summer has officially begun. But me? I love waking up one morning, looking out the window and seeing the sun up and the snow disappearing. Breathing in that fresh smell right after its finished raining, the earth looking totally renewed. I love taking long walks in the perfect weather and looking up at the sky, finding shapes in the clouds. Hearing the birds tweeting overhead as they return from their long vacation in the south. As you’ve probably guessed, my favorite time of the year is spring. Spring is like a new awakening for the earth after its long nap during the winter. The weather is perfect, not scorching hot, the sun beating down on your back as sweat drips down your face. But it’s also not freezing cold either, where you must be stuffed up in layers of clothing to stay warm. The weather during spring is perfect. The days begin to get longer as the sun finally starts showing its face, peeking through the clouds. Dogs can finally roam freely and children can come out and play. Everyone just seems happier when the lovely, colorful flowers begin to sprout from the earth. Romance novels and movies are all based during spring. For most of us, this season is the dawn of a new year.

My Favourite Season
by: Timothy Kim Nov 4, 2011

Winter is the season I look forward to because it is the season of cooling down after a tough season of sports or difficult months of working or during the season for the gamers out there they can just step outside for a cold breeze or if your unlucky an avalanche. Winter is also very bright for a season, you would expect out of a cold day (just so you know in the day because you don't want to go out in a freezing night that can chill your whole body! Winter is a fantastic time of the year with all these celebrations and all and this is why I love the season winter!

There is Always Something That Makes You Love Fall
by Julie Park Nov 4, 2011

In my personal opinion fall is superior to all other seasons. It might be the warm joy of Thanksgiving, the thrills and chills of Halloween, or just the cool, crisp, air, but autumn has a way of luring almost anyone into the depths of its multicolor leaves. With all those men wondering around with leaf blowers on the backs, appearing to be Ghostbusters, what’s not to resist?
Not to mention fall is also the proud owner of the perfect, most appealing temperature. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Although the most enticing joy of fall is the first snow. I know what you are thinking “The first snow?! Doesn’t that resign in winter?” but more often than not the glamorous, white fluff of the first snow falls in autumn. So weather it’s the sweet, savory awesomeness of pumpkin pie, the cool morning and warm afternoons, or the relief of knowing the Christmas is right around the corner, a little piece of everyone loves fall.

There She Is, Smirking Her Plastic, Artificial Smile
by Sydney Zuk Nov 4, 2011

“Crunch, crunch, crunch.” The frost lay, snoozing sleepily. Your feet thrash downwards, parting the white sea. One exhausting stomp leads to another dragging stamp. A bitter wind claws at your cheeks, battering and beating then until crimson and raw. Winter, how can you enjoy it? The nippy * cools your blood, leading it to be viscous and clog in your veins. Your limbs lay limp and drowsy, left to dangle useless in the breeze. The pain that shoots through your spine you receive from thrusting a shovel forward and dragging it lazily back. It gnaws to divide the vertebrae. Winter, how can you not enjoy it? The paper tears to reveal that brand new Barbie, smirking her plastic, artificial grin. The aroma of new toy spirals into your nostrils. The flakes and shavings pack and stick into an icy weapon, created to destruct and destroy. I aim, I shoot, bull’s-eye! Is winter really the most wonderful time of the year? Yes, yes it is.

7 p.m.
By: Alannah Higuchi

My favourite time of the year is 7 p.m. No matter what season, 7 p.m. is perfect every day. 7 p.m. at my house is dinner time. Yes, it’s later that the average supper, but that’s the time we eat. We dine late because that’s when my dad gets home from a long day’s work, after he settles in, we all sit down to a family meal. 7 p.m. means food, and I love food. It means food that I didn’t have to make myself in a rush to get to school; it means food that isn’t the same lunch I’m packed every day. Sometimes 7 p.m. is a hot meal like soups, casseroles, or pastas. Sometimes it’s ordinary Canadian food; sometimes it’s authentic Japanese food. 7 p.m. is prepared by my mother on weekdays and my father on weekends. Occasionally 7 p.m. is prepared by me, and I enjoy when I can participate. 7 p.m. means that I’ve probably already finished my homework, but if I haven’t, it means that there is enough time for me to finish it before I go to bed. 7 p.m. is when all the new episodes of my favourite television shows start, and we sometimes eat while watching them. Most of all, 7 p.m. means peace. It’s the kind of peace untouched by factors from the outside world. 7 p.m. is time I get to spend with my family, and that’s why it’s my favourite time of the year, month, or day.

Two Months of Ease
By Nick Baker
When the bees buzz and the flowers are blooming. When the sun shines late into the evening, and the sunsets put the mountains ablaze with red, pink, and orange light. When the fish jump, silver in the pond and bite with every cast. When school becomes a bad word and there is nothing to do but lay around bored. When life seems simple and growing old seems an impossibility. When the smell of barbeques float through the evening air. When there is a baseball game every Saturday night at the park, and lots of weekend excursions to the beach. When the trees are full of fruit and the farmer’s fields are waiting for harvest. When time is lost in a whirl of activity and excitement. When the trampoline, the pool, and the sprinkler become daily pastimes. When the temperature climbs above thirty, and the tops come down on convertibles. When you wake to the birds singing, and the sound of the neighbor mowing his lawn. Summer. My favourite time of the year.

Wonderland for the snow Fan
By Alex Harte

There’s nothing better than the feeling of waking up under your giant blanket to the radio singing out, “Schools and roads are closed today.” With a sudden rush of excitement you spring out from under your blankets, rip open your blinds and stare in awe as everything before you is covered in its own blanket, a blanket of snow. This is the perfect start to the perfect day of the perfect season. This is what winter’s all about.
Snow is one of the few things that will instantly make you warm and fuzzy on the inside, despite its freezing temperature. It also has the power to literally change the landscape. It transforms downhill roads into five-star ski resorts, front yards become warzones for snowball fights, and snow covered bushes quickly become the building blocks for snow castles. The world becomes your playground.
After a day of tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding and resolving WW3, snow ball style, you enter your house and are welcomed by the scent of hot chocolate being freshly brewed and the sight of a fresh, unopened bag of marshmallows. Once your marshmallows are strategically placed into the steaming cup of cocoa you’re ready to sit down with your family and enjoy a movie.
Finally, you’re ready to crawl into your bed and hibernate underneath the five different blankets sprawled over your mattress, and rest up. You’re going to need your energy to do it all again the next day.

A Really Ice Season
By Seth Sibble

My favourite time of year would have to be Winter, that time when the world cools down and chills for a bit. All joking aside, Winter is a really pretty season. It is the only season typically exempt of excess heat. Places radically change as nature drops the leaf altogether, with frosty fingers or crisp white flakes transforming the landscape into something spectacularly surreal. As for special occasions, Winter does not find itself lacking, with many large celebrations, such as New Year’s, Christmas, and all similarly timed holidays. The icy ways of winter triggers many exciting events, such as the massive Ice Sculpture competitions famous for their beauty. Sport fanatics will also find expanded Ski and Snowboarding areas to their liking. Winter is the only time of the year to actually have entirely exclusive sports, such as Bobsledding and Skeleton. Even if you're simply looking for something to do near you, sledding is unbelievably easy to do, and skating takes little more than water and frost. And you can feel secure in doing these activities, as many of the more potentially dangerous animals sleep throughout the Winter, saving their energies for when food is more plentiful. I hate to repeat myself, but Winter simply is a really amazing season, and is extremely underrated which, in my opinion, is odd, considering just how cool it really is.

Icicles
By: Michelle Gammon
Bright flowers line the streets, and the sky is a bright blue, shimmering with life and a breeze that will never leave. Birds are singing in the large oak and pine trees that line every street and corner of this majestic city. The periodic showers of harsh rain from the sky don’t seem to bother me as much anymore, not since that one day that I was locked outside my house during that storm - but that was in late November.
I lie outside all day, not caring about the harsh UVA rays that my body is absorbing, my dog playing with the sprinklers beside me, Snoopy, my cat, curled up at my shoulder, purring as I rub her head. Every now and then I open my eyes and cloud watch, seeing different animals and shapes; I swear I saw a polka-dotted elephant once!
Every year it’s the same; I get let out for school, and just hang around outside for two months, hanging out in my dad’s hot tub at night to watch the stars. Just something about this time of year makes me happy and relaxed.
At night in the hot tub has to be the best though, sitting with family, eating Melona and talking about how we didn’t accomplish a darn thing. The biggest thing that I manage to accomplish all summer is walking to the car so my dad can drive to the beach. Summer is the best time of year for me... relaxation, sleep, perfect.

The Crunch of Fall
By Loneka Miller
Leaves changing colour all around me, crisp cold air entering my
lungs, the crunch of leaves under foot. This is truly one beautiful
season. Traditionally at this time of year, I rake those fallen leaves
into one massive pile, making sure no twigs, sticks or anything spiky
is in the glorious mass. I take a running leap at it only to crush the
multi-coloured leaves as I land. The crisp cool air brings us out
wearing scarves, mittens, as well as tuques. This time of year is when
I get my camera out the most taking pictures of the beautiful fall
sunset, turning leaves, as well as
the overall deep tones that Fall imprints on the environment. I find
myself absorbed by the V shape the flocks of geese make as their
flying south before winter approaches which leaves me feeling
satisfied for the rest of the day. Over all, these are the reasons I
love Fall so much.

The best time, is my time
By Jesse Law

The best time of year is when there is no school. The time or place doesn’t matter; the only thing that matters is that you’re done. There is a sense of relief that comes over your body, followed by a huge fist pump due to the excitement that is overwhelming your body. The time can be Christmas, Spring Break, summer vacation or even that over-anticipated wait for the long weekend. The sound of the alarm buzzing at 7am clears your conscious as you fall into your bed for a much delighted slumber. Your head tilts back; you shut your eyes as your body is flailing through the air at your bed, only to be greeted by the cloud-like feeling of your blankets. They are the same blankets that you use all year but at this moment nothing can compare to them. When you awake from the slumber your body feels completely rejuvenated, like nothing can hold you back now. You are ready to show the world who you truly are. But just as you work up enough courage reality steps back in and you become aware that you have to return to school tomorrow. Your body becomes instantly fatigued, your eyes become droopy with discontent. The smile you have put on through the whole time you’re off fades away into the distance, waiting to return the next time you get your break from school.

Wonderful Colours!

My favourite time of the year is fall because of the wonderful colours! All the leaves are sparkling with their true colours. Vibrant reds, shimmering yellows, deep browns, and radiant oranges surround the landscape. I enjoy the leaves crunching under my feet when I walk to and from many places.

The wonderful landscape is just breathtaking! Every morning you wake up to crisp, new air. The world seems new everyday because everything changes over-night. It is just great to see the mountains or the sunset during dinner. All the leaves fall one by one, until you just can`t wait to jump into a pile filled with colour. The leaves swirl around you right after you jump.

The joy in your eyes just adds that special touch. Fall is my favourite season because of many reasons, but my favorite thing is the warmth of your own home.

The Crossing

My favourite time of year is the small transitional period in between fall and winter. Vibrant leaves descend gracefully onto the frozen earth, tiny ice crystals form on the tips of grass and golden rays of sun kiss your frost bitten cheeks.

This is the time of year where Christmas is displayed in shops’ glossy windows, but yet no one is perturbed by the earliness. Even kids behave better through the threat of Santa Claus. It seems that everybody is in the mindset of forgiveness and peace on earth. You receive warmer smiles and return them to people you may hardly know. All in all, within the days of the fading sun the candles of our spirits are
lit.

Waiting in the cold

Standing on the cold sidewalk in my plastic flourescent boots I wait bundled in my jacket. A brightly striped wool scarf is wrapped around my neck and continues to warm me from the cold breeze.

Through my fuzzy gloves I can feel the warmth from my mug of sweet hot chocolate warming my hands and the rest of my chilled body. The bacteria infested city bus is late this September morning and is nowhere to be found in the gradually increasing early morning traffic.

My gaze travels to the other side of the road. I find myself studying the decaying leaves lying pushed up against the sidewalk. Out of curiosity as to where they come from I look to the sky. I find leaves floating with the breeze, dancing gracefully above my head and around me.

Carelessly twirling in the air washing the sky with vibrant shades of oranges and reds. They’ve been lifted off of the trees aloft and carried across the highway. As the leaves begin their cautious descent they fall against the frigid earth and rest before the next gust of wind that will carry them again. The bus emerges down the road and the coming wind stirs up the leaves and hoists them into the air. I make my way onto the bus, I pay my fees and watch the leaves toppling about recklessly in the wind through the grimy window. The bus pulls away from my stop the leaves are left struggling in the breeze.

Ticking Clocks

All around the world, everyone waits. For some, it is a test of survival, a test of proving one’s strength. It is a test that will show the survival of the sleep deprived.

Many hot spots around the world are overfilled with famous stars gathering around celebrating with the joy of music. Lively sounds fill the chilly air as hot, warming drinks go everywhere. As time draws near, we all stop. We all look up and stare.

Nobody budges a muscle in these last minutes except for the twinkling stars in the distant and snowflakes drifting its way down to Earth. Five! Four! Three! Two! One! The moment all the clocks strike twelve, the moment all the fireworks go boom, the moment we cheer out, “Happy New Year!”

It is my moment. Nothing could ruin this perfect moment except the clock striking two minutes past twelve as I collapse in deep sleep.

The Blizzard

The Blizzard
I am sitting on a lush, comfy chair in front of the fire place, covered up by a woollen blanket. My dog, Tsakus, lies next to me, snoring away, while the radio plays Christmas songs quietly in the background. Those are the only sounds in the small wooden cabin, other than the wet dripping noise of snow melting off my wet clothing, hung by the door. Outside I can see a harsh blizzard roaring, and I smile to myself. Then a small buzzer sounds, and I know my cocoa and cookies are done.

Tsakus doesn’t notice when I get up, and it’s not until I sit down again that she glares jealously at my cookies. I toss her a biscuit, and any feelings of ill-will are immediately soothed.

I get up again after a few minutes, when my cocoa has cooled down. I run my fingers down my shelf of mystery novels, and select a particularly intriguing-looking one. I sit down again, nestling under the blanket, holding my novel in one hand, and stroking Tsakus’ head in the other.
I find myself wishing that life could be this easy all the time. There’s something about the winter that makes a blizzard just fine; that makes you feel like you don’t have a care in the world.

So I sit there, surrounded by the comfort of sheer winter bliss, and the glorious satisfaction of knowing that I am, without a doubt, perfectly and utterly content, right here, right now.

Season of Revival

Every year, there comes a time around mid-winter when the drizzle and cold gives way to a glorious display of warmth and sunshine. The sky becomes a clear blue streaked with rays of brilliant sunlight and the frozen earth slowly thaws. The sun comes out to blanket the Earth in warmth and banish all thoughts of winter.

Spring, indeed, spontaneously awakens to cure the land of its miserable, rainy woes. However, it will not last long.
In a short time, all-familiar dark clouds will enshroud the Earth once more. Rain will once again pour down in angry torrents and the sun will take leave from the sky. \

Nevertheless, we will know that spring has not abandoned us, for it has given us a sign; a sign so that we will have hope during the agonizing weeks to follow; hope for the renewing season that we know is coming.

And then, finally, after many will have lost all hope, it will come at last. The foliage will transform itself into a vast array of colourful hues and the sky will sparkle with the reflection of the sun. The world around us will completely change and we will know at last that our season of revival has come.

An Canadian winter

I think one of the best times of the year is winter. In the winter you can play in the snow with your friends. You can have intense snowball fights. Another thing that makes winter so great is, watching each and every matchless snowflake twinkle as it falls from the sky. One of the best things is when you have a snowman building competition and afterward come inside to a creamy, warm cup of hot chocolate.

For the active people you can go to the mountains and ski or snowboard which is one of my favorite things to do. Skating after the ice has just frozen is one of the most enjoyable things because the ice is smooth and reflects a perfect mirror image. You can stand in the snow catching snowflakes on your tongue and feel the cool dots dissolve into pools of water.

All in all winter is one of the best times of the year because of the endless activities you can do.
