Sound Off: Should Canadian Soldiers Withdraw from Afghanistan?

As the 2011 pullout date for Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan is getting ever closer, I believe that having our soldiers come home next year would be just like a little boy cleaning only half his room. Once you've started a job, you should finish it.

In Afghanistan, Canadian soldiers are doing all sorts of things to help the country's people. They are protecting Canadian civilians who are helping out in Afghanistan. They are removing and defusing land mines in a country that has the most landmines in the world. Canadian soldiers are also just keeping peace by sending out patrols to make sure everything is fine in the towns and cities.

Now, if the Canadian soldiers come home from Afghanistan, what do you think will happen? Do you think that there will be no more fighting and that the Taliban will just stop fighting? In my opinion, as soon as the soldiers leave, the Taliban will easily take over the country because there's nobody to stop them.

Canadian soldiers are coming home for a whole variety of reasons. It could be that there are a lot of soldiers getting injured. Perhaps there are a lot of political reasons involved. Or maybe they are just sick of fighting against the Taliban. Or possibly, the government thinks that a decade of war is enough.

These are all valid reasons. But in the end, isn't it still frustrating when tasks are left abandoned and half-finished?

My Broken Heart

I think the Canadian Soldiers should come back because its dangerous in Afghanistan. The Taliban will not stop making ROAD SIDE BOMBS TO KILL OUR INNOCENT LOVE ONES. The only reason my comment is name My Broken Heart is because I lost a long time best friend. His name was Zachary. I lost all of my hope to wanting him to come back to Canada to have a happy ending life. Before he left for Afghanistan he told me that he had decided to get married to his Fiance. I actually cried when he phoned me couple of days before he left. We had a party and we also hang yellow ribbons on trees to help us hope that Zachary will come back to Canada alive, not DEAD. WE SHOULD COME BACK NOW CANADA!!!
