Athlete of the Month: Gagan Josan

Dog's Ear - Athlete of the Month

Gagan Josan plays centre-midfield on Panorama Ridge Secondary's senior boys soccer team and has made a name for himself in high-school soccer as an aggressive footballer with playmaking skills. This grade 11 soccer star developed his passion for the sport when he was inspired by his cousin. "Growing up as a kid I always watched my older cousins play soccer. As soon as I started playing the sport I was addicted and from there I began my career. For me it's all about having fun and enjoying myself out there on the pitch each and every time," recalls Gagan.

Without question, this season was much more fun for Gagan and the school's senior boys squad. "From not being on the team the previous year and watching them [senior boys] lose in the Provincial Championship finals, this year my main goal was to bring home the title. Our team's main goals were to win the Fraser Valley Championship and ultimately the AA Provincial Championship, which we finally did defeating Notre Dame 3-2," comments Gagan, who was also named MVP of the tournament.

With a disciplined training schedule, which includes "two training sessions a week, going to a personal trainer for off field training and being involved in two games on weekends," it's clear that Gagan is dedicated to getting better each day. His future in soccer looks promising as he looks forward to another great season with his teammates. "Next year I plan on being part of the Panorama Ridge soccer team once again. I would love to win the title again for the second year in a row as it would be an outstanding accomplishment."

I'm sure the high school community will hear more about Gagan's soccer accomplishments next season.
