Warm sand sifting through your toes and ocean waves lapping at your feet – heading to the beach is an essential part of summer. But, basking in the sun’s rays at the beach actually affects more than just you. Whether it’s alone, with family or with friends, we all have to remember that the beach experience shouldn’t be taken for granted. While having a good time most of us forget to be mindful of others that are at the beach, but it’s important to try and remember that heading for a lazy day at the beach still requires a certain amount of etiquette.
First thing first, dress appropriately. Sure we all want to be looking our best out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to wear insanely revealing bathing suits. That goes for the guys and the gals. The beach is often a family affair and not everyone needs to be exposed to so much of you.
One thing that a lot of people forget to do is clean up after themselves. Leave the beach the way you found it, or better. If there is other garbage around you, take the time to pick it up while you are cleaning your mess. No one wants to go to a filthy beach. Remember, most of the time beach goers are walking in bare feet or flimsy sandals and some garbage could be hazardous to them.

Sometimes we are all so caught up in the moment that we forget that we aren’t the only ones at the beach. Be respectful of others around you and use your common sense. If you take a stereo, make sure the volume is at a decent level because not everyone may like your taste in music. Also, watch the language, don’t speak inappropriately or talk about inappropriate things. The quiet couple sitting two feet away from your blanket probably didn’t come to the beach to hear about what you did on the weekend.
In the end, it’s about treating others the way you would hope to be treated. If you keep these factors in mind when you hit up the beach this summer everyone there will have a good time.
I totally agree with the
I totally agree with the dressing appropriately thing.
Playing with balls
I would like to add that it would be nice if people don't play sports in a crowded beach or park. Last weekend I almost got hit by a ball and then by a disc when trying to have a picnic at Jericho...
