Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween – what a great holiday! It’s a welcome ticket for a late night and free candy. What more could you possibly ask for? For those about to celebrate another trick-or-treating anniversary, don’t forget to consider your safety first. Maybe it’s even your first year without a parent escort, but don’t panic! Here’s your ultimate guide to Halloween survival:

1. Travel in large groups. Don’t go anywhere alone! Being a lone cat is just asking for trouble.

2. Bring a flashlight or wear bright colours. Reflective tape or glow sticks might be a fun way to add to your costume.

3. Stay in a well-lit area or one that you are familiar with.

4. Take your cellphone. If you don’t have one, it might be smart to
borrow your older sibling’s or your parent’s phone.

5. Don’t play with firecrackers, unless you plan on spending the next week in the hospital or grounded because the police accompanied you home.

6. Go over your plans with your parents. Make sure they are aware of what time you are leaving and what time they should be expecting you home. That way, they’ll know if/when something goes wrong.

7. If you’re attending a party, never leave your drink unattended.
Someone could slip something into it.

8. Be mindful of the activity going on around you at the party. If anything seems sketchy, don’t feel bound to stay. Leave early if you must.
