Betwixt: Tara Bray Smith

Morgan D’Amici, Ondine Mason and Nix Saint-Michael know that they aren’t quite the same as everyone else, but it still comes as a surprise when they find out that they aren’t human. They are changeling fay, beings of light and energy who merely inhabit people’s bodies until, a short time after they turn 18, they are ready to reach their Novala – their version of nirvana. Suddenly, aspects of their lives – a mysterious band, a powerful drug – achieve a whole new meaning. People they thought they knew are more different than the three had ever imagined. Thrown into a world where the limits of reality are called into question, the teens must decide whether to strive towards their true home in another dimension, or to become cutters (fay who want to stay on Earth and enjoy the power afforded them there, but who are deemed evil by the rest). The hauntingly beautiful writing style of Betwixt combined with a wonderfully complex plot will leave readers with chills running up and down their spines and goosebumps on their arms.
