Darklight by Lesley Livingston

Book Review: Darklight by Lesley Livingston

4 stars

If you’re interested in urban fantasy and dark romance (heads up, Twilight fans!) then this book is for you. Darklight is the second book in the Wondrous Strange trilogy. Deceitful and intriguing faeries, violence, love, and humour... this book has it all!

Some of the more lovey-dovey scenes made me want to gag, and I found the frequent Shakespeare quotes ridiculously annoying, unnecessary and difficult to understand. Otherwise, it’s the perfect book to curl up with and read under the covers with a flashlight.

The story is about Kelley Winslow (secretly a faerie princess) who is in love with a human boy, Sonny Flannery. Sonny is a member of the Janus Guard, a group of human changelings who kill rogue faeries and Lost Fae for a living. It gets even more complicated because, among the constantly shifting faerie alliances, it’s impossible to decide who is evil and who isn’t.

The novel’s unpredictable twisted storyline refuses to let you stop reading until you’ve turned the last page. The heart-breaking dramatic ending will leave you desperately craving the next book in the series.
