Numbers is about a 15-year-old girl named Jem who lives with a foster family. She's not your normal teenage girl - her mom died of an overdose when she was a little girl and ever since then, whenever her eyes meet someone else's, she can see the exact day that person is going to die.
This so-called power isn't something that Jem likes, so she avoids forming any relationships.
One day though, she meets a reckless, gangly, mouthy boy named Spider who has his own problems. As Jem and Spider grow closer together, problems arise when Jem foresees an explosive event that ends up changing their lives forever.
I found this book fun to read - it was one of those books that you can't put down until you reach the end. It was an emotional roller-coaster for me, feeling love, hate, happiness, sadness and almost every other emotion possible.
I like how Rachel Ward features real-life teen problems in the lives of Jem and Spider and I think teens will find it easy to relate to the main characters.
