Sweet Little Lies: An L.A. Candy Novel by Lauren Conrad

3 stars

The Hills in novel form.

Sweet Little Lies is the sequel to Lauren Conrad's first best-selling novel, L.A. Candy. It follows the lives of five “regular” girls living in L.A. who are also a part of a hit reality TV show called L.A. Candy.

The main character, Jane, is a simple girl-next-door who is only looking for genuine, trustworthy friends since she has been stricken with overnight stardom.

This addition to the series addresses the stressful relationships between the girls and their boyfriends, also bringing attention to some secret sabotaging and backstabbing amongst friends - and what some people will do for their 15 minutes of fame.

This novel is entertaining enough to read, but is basically an entire season of MTV's hit show The Hills in text form. The similarities between the characters on The Hills and the characters in the book are close enough that I knew who they were without having ever watched the show.

This is a very dramatic novel, but without much depth or emotion. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, creative read, but a fan of The Hills will definitely have fun with this book!
